JACKSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS High School (Jackson High School) Oceanography Pacing Guide Grades: 10, 11, 12 Difficulty: 2-3 Prerequisites: Biology The study of Oceanography provides students with an understanding of the scientific questions, complexities, and uncertainties involved in ocean use and the role and importance of the ocean in nurturing and sustaining life on the planet. An emphasis is placed on the interdisciplinary nature of marine science, stressing its links to biology, chemistry, geology, physics, meteorology, astronomy, ecology, history, and economics. In addition Teaching Point – Marine Biology and Oceanography is also used. Book 1: Oceanography – An Invitation to Marine Science, 5th ed.
