Early Intervention is a comprehensive interagency program that supports infants and children with developmental delays in their efforts to realize their full potential. It reduces the likelihood of delays among at-risk children, assists and empowers families to meet their child’s and their own needs, and entitles children, regardless of race, ethnicity or income to services through the program.
Reports to Director of Evaluation Standards Unit (ESU),
Evaluation Reviewer Responsibilities:
Provide critical program support to the Early Intervention Program by reviewing evaluations and assessment documentation to ensure compliance with regulations related to evaluation standards, eligibility determinations and NYC policy and procedures, document issues of noncompliance of evaluation standards and unsupported eligibility determinations in letters to providers.
Review provider responses and follow up with providers and regional staff, provide training and technical assistance to Early Intervention staff on review of Multidisciplinary Evaluations (MDEs) and provider community on evaluation standards, eligibility determination and best practices in evaluation of infants and toddlers.
Maintain a strong command of early childhood development and best practices with regard to early childhood assessment.
Utilize ESU application to manage review of MDEs
Collaborate with Provider Oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and NYC policy and procedures
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess:
Strong analytic, problem-solving and organizational abilities
Master’s degree in Speech Pathology, Early Childhood, Psychology, Physical or Occupational
Therapy
Comprehensive knowledge of early childhood development
Extensive experience with evaluation of infants and toddlers
Excellent interpersonal, research, written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Computers
Knowledgeable about Early Intervention, NYS Regulations, NYC Policy and Procedures and
Regional Office operations and NYEIS
Bilingual, a plus
Residency Requirement:
New York City residency is required within 90 days of appointment. However, city employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau,
Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland or Orange County.
