PANTRY COORDINATOR The pantry coordinator directs and oversees the operations of the pantry. The coordinator works closely with the Office, Volunteer, USDA and Food Drive Coordinator. VOLUNTEERS 1. Schedules and trains all new volunteers. 2. Maintains a weekly schedule of all pantry volunteers and emails a reminder notice of the schedule. 3. Conducts an initial familiarization visit with potential new volunteers 4. Communicates with volunteer coordinator when additional volunteers are needed to perform pantry tasks. 5. Schedules the Tuesday& Thursday Hannaford Meat/Bakery pick up* 6. Schedules the Greater Merrimack Valley Food Bank Shopping/pick up* FOOD SUPPLY 1. Determines that sufficient prepackaged (client food bags) is available for upcoming pantry sessions. 2. Performs a weekly inventory of available food and communicates food need the buyer. (the pantry Coordinator may do shopping when needed) 3. Ensures that all donated and purchased food is processed according to PACH requirements. (This includes sorting, cleaning, checking expiration dates, marking products & storing on shelves.) 4. Directs the transfers of food from the staging area to the pantry as needed 5. Ensures that freezers are stocked with meat at all times. 6. Ensures that freezer space is available to receive USDA food on the 2nd Thursday of the month. 7. Cleans refrigerators and freezers on a weekly basis. 8. Updates and posts the PACH food packaging distribution list for use by volunteers preparing bags. SPECIAL EVENTS 1. Food Drives- Oversee the processing of all food drive donations. This will require extra pantry staffing. 2. Holiday Meal Program- Ensure that there is sufficient food items to fill holiday meal needs. Work with the buyer to shop for food products. Ensure that sufficient boxes are available for the holiday meals. GIFT CARDS Disburse gift cards to buyers as needed. Record serial numbers of United Way donated cards used. * At this time the pantry coordinator is making a weekly trip to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank as well as doing the Tuesday Hannaford pick up. These need to be individual volunteer jobs.* New volunteers for these tasks are being sought now.* NOTES: Cleaning and food inventory 2-3 hours per week Pantry visit & work – 2 hours per week Special events – average 4-5 hours min. as needed *MVFB Shopping– 3½ hours/week *HANNAFORD PICK UP- 1½/week
