Close the door of the room where the laser is going to be operated. Ensure only individuals with the appropriate safety training and goggles are in the lab. Ensure the laser head is directed towards a beam dump (non-reflective, non-flammable dark surface). Operating Procedures: *PUT ON YOUR SAFETY GOGGLES BEFORE OPERATING THE LASER* Starting Laser: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Verify all persons in lab have properly donned the laser protective eyewear. Close the Mechanical Beam Stop (mechanical shutter) on the laser head (if it is open). Turn on the KeySwitch, and wait for the display to load. Select the approapriate parameters for the laser operation. Press the Laser Arm Button (labeled as '1') when ready. The emission light should turn on. Open the Mechanical Beam Stop, and ensure nobody is in front of the laser aperture. The next step will produce hazardous laser radiation 7. When ready, press Emission Start Button. Shutting Down Laser: 1. 2. 3. 4. Press the stop button (labeled as '0'). Close the Mechanical Beam Stop. Turn off the KeySwitch. Remove laser warning sign.
