He received his I.Sc from Vidyasagar College, Calcutta and completed a fellowship in 1956 at the Institute of Homeopathy in Mihijam. Subsequently in 1958 he established his homeopathic practice in 1958 in Calcutta, and has personally treated over 100 patients a day since then. His treatment approach known as the Banerji Protocols successfully passed through the rigorous NCI/OCCAM Best Case Series review in 1998 and since then he has worked with various collaborators in the USA. His postdoctoral training was supported partly by a postdoctoral grant from American Institute for Cancer Research. Joyce Frye, DO, MBA, MSCE Center for Integrative Medicine University of Maryland Medical Center jfrye@compmed.umm.edu Dr. Frye joined the University of Maryland Medical School from the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed a post-doctoral fellowship in epidemiology sponsored by the NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to encourage research in complementary therapies. She cofounded the Jefferson Center for Integrative Medicine. Trained in a variety of complementary modalities, Dr. Frye has been certified by the American Board of Holistic Medicine. She is especially interested in osteopathy and in homeopathy, having served as the president of both the National Center for Homeopathy and the American Institute of Homeopathy. Patricia Jordan, DVM patriciamonahanjordan@hotmail.com Dr. Jordan has been in veterinary practice for 24 years and has founded six veterinary clinics since receiving her doctorate from North Carolina College of Veterinary Medicine. She has studied extensively and received advanced credentials in both conventional and holistic modalities. Elena Ladas, RD, PhD(c) Director, Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer Division of Pediatric Oncology Columbia University Ejd14@columbia.edu Elena holds several national and international appointments including Chair of the Nutrition Committee of Children's Oncology Group; member of the Committee on Developing Countries, International Society for Paediatric Oncology; and an advisory member to the National Cancer Institute's PDQ editorial boards on Complementary/Alternative Medicine and Supportive Care. She has published numerous articles and has lectured nationally and internationally on the topics of nutrition and integrative medicine. Elena is a registered dietician and is a doctoral candidate in nutrition at Columbia University. Isis Mikhail, MD,MPH,DrPH Director, Extramural Research Program (ERP) Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine National Cancer Institute mikhaili@mail.nih.gov In addition to her work with OCCAM, Dr. Mikhail was an epidemiologist and program director at the Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Branch of the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS) at NCI, where she oversaw a portfolio of cancer epidemiology grants and was involved in several research activities. Dr. Mikhail served as chair of the Health Disparities Interest Group at DCCPS and was a member of the NCI Special Studies Institutional Review Board. She received an NCI Merit Award in 2008. Oluwadamilola Olaku, M.D., M.P.H., MRCOG Scientific Program Analyst, Office of Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine National Cancer Institute olakuo@mail.nih.gov Dr. Olaku has served as a scientific program analyst for OCCAM since 2004. In this role, his duties include reviewing cases submitted to the NCI Best Case Series Program, providing technical assistance to grant applicants, analyzing the NCI CAM portfolio, managing grants, and coordinating the OCCAM Monthly Lecture Series. Barbara Sarter, PhD, FNP-BC, DiHom Associate Professor, University of San Diego bsarter@sandiego.edu Dr. Sarter was formerly Associate Professor at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine when she began working with the Banerjis, and currently is Associate Professor of Advanced Practice Nursing at the University of San Diego. She is a homeopath as well, and spent six months in Calcutta studying and working with the Drs. Banerji. She has collaborated in various projects related to the Banerji Protocols and is a researcher in nutritional medicine. In the 90's, she was IFC's Chief of Mission for South Asia based in New Delhi. On return to Washington, she managed teams structuring and bidding out large PPP projects in traditional and social infrastructure. She is now developing an international gateway on women's cancer at OHSL. Renee Dworakowski OHSL Staff Renee.dworakowski@ohsl.us Renee has worked for 30 years with health care and medical associations. She developed education on the topics of procedural and diagnostic medical coding in the United States, physician practice management, the regulatory aspects of public and private U.S. medical reimbursement systems and HIPAA. She served as association representative at conferences and workshops, which disseminated education on the aforementioned topics. been a researcher in areas related to complementary and alternative medicine for 30 years. She has served on the faculties at Harvard Medical School, University of California San Francisco, and the University of Arizona. She is also nationally certified in biofeedback, a fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and a licensed physician in homeopathy/alternative medicine in Arizona. Leanna Standish, ND Medical Director Bastyr University Integrated Oncology Research Clinic ljs@bastyr.edu Dr. Standish’s research over the last 15 years has been focused on HIV/AIDS, cancer, hepatitis C and functional brain-imaging cancer. She has collaborated with investigators at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Children's Hospital in the study of CAM use among cancer patients in Washington state and also has directed research at Bastyr University to identify and describe the treatments used for breast cancer by naturopathic physicians in North America. She has been principal investigator or co-investigator on several integrated oncology research projects including a randomized clinical trial of meditation or massage in end-of-life cancer patients, a phase I study of a medicinal mushroom as an adjuvant treatment for breast cancer, and development of an integrated oncology website for Seattle Cancer Care Alliance physicians and patients. She is the medical director of the new Bastyr University Integrated Oncology Research Clinic (BIORC), and also is interested in the scientific validation of homeopathic principles.
