Changes to the Funding Rules for Linkage Projects for funding commencing in 2015 (LP15) Note: this list contains the major changes to rules and is not to be taken as exhaustive. Partner (7.1.2) Organisations LP15 The Linkage Program overarching Funding Rules including the Linkage Projects (LP) scheme-specific Funding Rules are provided in a harmonised and consolidated document to simplify and streamline applications. This section has been removed, however, please note that the Funding Rules still state that the ARC will not duplicate funding for research or research infrastructure funded by the Commonwealth. (A6.1.4) Workshops, focus groups and conference costs that are necessary for the conduct of the proposed research may now be supported. (A7.1.1.h) All requests must be fully justified in the Proposal form. Travel costs essential to the Project are permitted up to a maximum average of $20,000 per year of the Project. (A7.1.1.g) All requests must be fully justified in the Proposal form. Clauses regarding the authorship and intellectual content of the Proposal have been added to ensure clarity on this issue. (A10.1.3 and A16.6.3) The Funding Rules now do not require a Partner Investigator from each Partner Organisation. Page 1 of 2 Changes to Funding Rules LP14 LP15 Chief Investigator eligibility A researcher undertaking undergraduate studies or undertaking a higher degree by research was not eligible to be a CI. (7.2.4) A researcher undertaking a higher degree by research is not eligible to be a CI. (A10.2.5) A researcher who is undertaking undergraduate studies is eligible to be a CI. Years of funding Duration of the Project A Project may be applied for and awarded funding for a minimum of two to a maximum of three consecutive years. (5.1.3) Exempt Partner Organisation types Exempt Partner The Funding Rules included six Organisation types types of Partner Organisations who were exempt from the Cash Contribution requirements: a. Exempt Community Organisation; b. Exempt Herbarium; c. Exempt Museum; d. Exempt Non-Profit Organisation; e. Exempt Registered Charity; and f. Exempt Start-up. (6.3.9) A Project may now be applied for and awarded funding for a minimum of two to a maximum of five consecutive years. (D6.1.2) The Funding Rules now include seven types of Partner Organisations who are exempt from the Cash Contribution requirements: a. Exempt Archive and Public Record Office; b. Exempt Charity; c. Exempt Community Organisation; d. Exempt Herbarium; e. Exempt Museum and Collecting Organisation; f. Exempt Non-Profit Organisation; and g. Exempt Start-up.
