2015-2016 Langlade Enrichment Program – Fall / Early Winter The following offerings are available during the Fall / Early Winter session of the 2015-2016 school year. The specifics of each program are listed. To register, please complete one Registration Form for each student, selecting as many classes as you wish. Please double check the class dates. Register early to hold your spot in class!! A reminder will be sent before the start of each program with information on location, etc. Tuition scholarships are available to those who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Program Dates Time Tuition Beginner Spanish Tuesdays & Thursdays Oct. 13, 15, 20, 22, 27 & 29 and Nov. 3, 5, 10, 12, 17 & 19 8:00 8:50 am $45 per student for 12 classes Camp Invention – Castles, Catapults & Coats of Arm Mondays Nov. 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 3:30 – 5:00 pm Winter Keepsake Craft Tuesdays Dec. 1 (4K-2) Dec. 8 (3-5) Grades Open to K-5 Class Min/ Max Min=6 Description $59 per student for 5 classes 2-5 Min=12 Max=22 Presented by Camp Invention, taught by trained volunteer. This class teaches STEM content while weaving medieval history, basic scientific principals, and hands-on creativity through challenges every session. While assuming the roles of lords, knights, craftspeople, and serfs, children work in cooperative groups to complete each task. Children explore the concept of buoyancy by building boats to carry weight to cross a castle moat. Groups build weight-bearing drawbridge and design & build catapults. 3:305:30pm $16 per student 4K-2 Min=8 Max=15 3:305:30pm $16 per student 3-5 Min=8 Max=15 Taught by two UW-Green Bay students fluent in the Spanish language. Students will work in classroom format and in small groups learning basic Spanish. Presented by Katherine Schneider. Students’ fingerprints will be turned into winter themed art on a personalized, quality ceramic keepsake. Handcrafted touches will be added finishing these keepsakes before firing them and sending them home completed in gift bags. Each student will also choose an additional winter craft to complete as a gift to that special person of their choice. Students will also enjoy an after school snack, paper snowball fight, snow covered branch (food craft) to be enjoyed at home, and creating handmade cards. Gifts will be returned home in gift bags prior to Winter Break.
