Ellen, Meredith and Osmara met last
week. Osmara will be able to have bags
printed with Food Drive Five on the bag
(same side or other side of the bag
depending on the cost).
Osmara has the bags printed oversees
because it is cheaper to have them printed
there. Boy Scouts pay $20k to print a half

a million bags. Osmara needs to place the
order before 8/27 our next meeting.
Posters and little flyers have been done in
the past as well. They are in need of a
$3k donor that they will be losing this
year. Boy Scouts that participate in the
food drive receive a patch. They need
donors to help fund this patch ($1k-$2k).
Osmara will get us the quote for
the two-sided bag and the
proof for one-sided and twosided bag (Osmara will send to
Meredith to send to the group).
Then the group will see if we
have the funding for this.
Beginning of August, bag layout needs to
be decided.
October 11, Boy Scouts will drop off bags
in 22 counties (13 counties in the UP).
Karen could help send out a small press
release to the 22 counties to her
colleagues so they know about the Food
Drive Five.
We then can spread this to NWTC, United
Way, ADRC, Health Offices, and Bellin
etc. Need to create this Communication
Kit to send to our contacts.
October 18, Boy Scouts will pick up the
bags.
Last 3 years, goal is to collect 500,000
food items.
Ben’s Wish – would love to have CHIP at
the table.
Osmara will help facilitate with
the media kit so we can spread to
all the different groups that we
can give it to.
Karen (with subgroup) and
Osmara will work together to
discuss the partnership with Boy
Scouts and the CHIP group for
the communication kit.
*Editorial review board – meet
with the media to discuss the
upcoming food drive. Would
want the Boy Scouts and CHIP
involved.
*Brown County Executive –
Troy, Karen will reach out to him
to see if they could meet with
him too.

Farmer’s Market Update
 June Results?
SPEAKER
Melinda / Jamie
DISCUSSION
EBT results are compiled through last week.
Did have issues last week due to internet
issues and the ability use the EBT machine.
Feeling is that sales have increased.
Double your bucks is going very well. Can
provide up to $10 extra. They are green
tokens and only able to use for fruits and
veggies. Goal to increase fruits and
veggies and use of Farmers Markets. Final
results should be complied by the end of
November.
150 vendors are eligible to use EBT however
currently 80 currently actually have EBT.
To be eligible they need to sell a SNAP
eligible/approved food. Something that
isn’t prepackaged
DePere - Have received number for approval
from USDA. Another terminal is available
so she is working with the state to receive
that. Market goes through mid-October.
Thought is that it might be for 2015.
Oneida - Up and running. Issues with
terminal however that has been corrected.
Signs were up and they are doing the
Double your bucks program there as well.
Every Thursday until the end of September
WIC – over 60 signed up for text messages.
They send out a text out every week. They
are also discussing Double your bucks
programs too. Farmer is coming to her
site, first Tuesday of every month.
Just started issuing checks. Redemption rate
for June - 65 LY, 97 TY.

Melinda will forward the results
to Maureen and John

DISCUSSION
National Farmers Market week – will be
doing a press release August 4.
Karen - Fox 11 did an article regarding
“Program aims to provide people with
more access to healthy farmer’s market
foods”
http://fox11online.com/2014/06/19/programaims-to-provide-people-with-more-accessto-healthy-farmers-market-foods/
Karen spoke to the mother at the market to
speak on camera to tell her story. She felt
that she didn’t have the resources to buy
fruits and veggies.
Word of mouth seems to be the way people
are finding about this. Dave suggested do
something about referring a friend. Create
some incentive to have them refer someone
they know.

Next Meeting:

BMO and Cumulus – delivering left over
farmer’s market food to pantries
Karen is getting a group together from the
community to see if there is a need to do
this. The response was that it needs to
continue. August 4 is the next meeting. If
you have feedback for Karen please let her
know.
