It is located on the west coast of the island and adjacent to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte, which is the official capital of Sri Lanka. Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte is also a suburb of Colombo. A great place to visit in Colombo is the National Museum of Colombo, also known as the National Museum of Sri Lanka. The National Museum of Colombo Is the largest museum in all of Sri Lanka. This museum contains collections of much importance to Sri Lanka. The Temple of the Tooth is a Buddhist temple. It houses the relic of the tooth of Buddha. According to the legend, the tooth was taken from Buddha as he laid on his funeral pyre. This relic has played an important in role in Kandy’s local politics as it is believed that whoever holds the relic, holds the governance of the country. The Temple of the Tooth is one of the most sacred places of worship in the Buddhist world.
