FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Spring is here and the weather is finally
warm! I hope everyone is enjoying the warmer
days. Now that we are spending time outside,
please send in sunscreen to keep here and be
sure to have you child wear sneakers. Thank
you for helping us stay safe outdoors.
This month we will be celebrating
teacher appreciation week. I will be sending
home a letter with papers for you to fill out for
each teacher to help show them how much we
appreciate all that they do each day. Thank you
for helping to make it a special week!
At the end of this month, I am sad to
say that our 3’s teacher Miss Jodi will be moving
to Alaska. She has done a wonderful job this
school year and I truly appreciate all of the love
and care she has given to each and every child
in her room. She will be missed.
Kindergarten orientation will be on May
19th. This will be held at Sidway School for
parents and preschoolers to attend. Sidway
children will be having a half day of school on
that day as well.
I wanted to get the word out early for a
fundraising event we will be having in June. We
plan to have a family yard sale for anyone who
may be interested. On Saturday June 13th, you
may bring a table and things you wish to sell.
There will be a small donation for each family
that participates. Do some spring cleaning and
help support Care-A-Lot! A letter will be going
home when the date gets closer.
Just a reminder. We will be closed on
May 25 for Memorial Day. Enjoy your long
weekend with your family!
Miss Jenny

NURSERY 1:
The year is moving so fast! It’s May
already, and with the theme being May
Showers, hopefully we get more sun and
flowers than showers.
This month, we plan to have lots of rain
and flower activities. We will play with warm
and cold water to feel the difference. We will
also paint raindrops with our feet and flowers
with our hands for Mommy! Happy Mother’s
day, especially to our new Moms!
As always, please let us know if there is
anything we can do for you and your little one.
Thank you,
Miss Reece, Miss Jarilyn
NURSERY 2:
This will be a month full of learning and
fun for Nursery 2! We will be focusing on animal
sounds, where animals live, and doing animalthemed crafts.
We’ll learn about farm animals, such as:
cows, pigs, sheep, and horses. We will learn
new songs such as: “Baa Baa Black Sheep”,
“Farmer in the Dell”, and “5 Little Ducks”. We
will also talk about domestic animals like cats,
dogs, and birds, and different zoo animals.
We will be going crafts for each set of
animals, along with looking at pictures of each
animal.
Miss Rhianna, Miss Cathy & Miss Chris
TODDLER 1:
April showers will hopefully bring May
flowers! This past month, we learned all about
water and seas creatures! We loved playing in
the water and with our seas creature figurines.
We made jello and went fishing for goldfish,
inside popcorn.
In May, we will be exploring classic
storybook characters. We will read “Goldilocks
and the Three Bears”, “There was an Old
Woman Who Swallowed a Fly”, “The Little
Engine That Could”, and many more. We will

You are all wonderful moms!

TODDLER 2:
Hello and happy May!
month we will be focusing on storybook
characters by jumping into some classic
children's stories such as “Goldilocks and the
Three Bears”, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear”, “There
Was an Old Woman Who Swallowed a Fly”, “The
Little Engine That Could” and so many others.
During this time we will be practicing our
rhyming skills, sorting colors and sizes and
learning fun new songs/ finger plays. Likewise,
we will be creating a number of one of-a-kind
art projects going along with each story. We are
also looking forward to sunny weather and
being able to get outside on the playground.
Finally, I want to wish all of our magnificent
mothers a Happy Mother's Day!
Miss Dominique & Miss Julia
PRESCHOOL 1:
I cannot believe that we are already in
the month of May! This month we will be
talking about rainbows, rain, mother’s day, and
finish exploring what spring has to offer before
we are officially in summer.
As the weather is getting warmer and
we are spending more time outside we are
asking parents to please bring in sunscreen for
your child.
This month will also be Miss Jodi’s last
month at Care-A-Lot. Her family is moving to
the great state of Alaska. She wants to thank
you all for allowing her to take care of your
children, and meeting all the parents off
Preschool 1.
If you have any questions or concerns
please feel free to contact us.
Miss Jodi, Miss Amanda
UPK
This month, our lessons will be based
on the review of the letters X, Y, and Z. Also, we
will talk about how we can discover the
difference between a good behavior and a bad
behavior, and why it is important to be
responsible for our own actions. In addition,
children will learn about Memorial Day.
Learning domains will be covered through
hands-on exploration, critical thinking, problem
solving, interaction with peers and adults, and
making appropriate choices.
Our Math activities will help your
children answer the following questions: Can I
recognize and match attributes of objects, such
as size, shape, and color? Am I able to use rules
to sort objects? Am I able to use rules to create
and extend repeating patterns? Can I write my
numbers up to and including 15 correctly?
Our ELA activities will include reading
books on the topics mentioned earlier. Children
will be encouraged to ask questions and give
appropriate responses. In addition to selfintroduction, birthdays, saying their home
addresses, children will practice saying what
country/state/town they are from.
Our Science activities will help your
children predict, guess, observe, participate,
manipulate, and make conclusions. We will do
science experiments, such as Magic Bottle,
Magic Milk, and Color Mixing.
Our Fine-Motor Skills activities will
include cutting with scissors, stenciling, gluing,
writing with markers/ pencils, coloring with
colored pencils and crayons, painting, playing
with plastic tweezers, playing with play-dough,
clay, colored rice, moon sand, etc.

We are planning a graduation night to
honor our budding scholars. The celebration
will be held at Sidway Elementary on Baseline
road on Wednesday June 17th. Please have your
child there by 6:45. There will also be a guest
sign-up sheet outside our classroom door.
Meanwhile, we will be starting our “What I
learned books” and that you can be very proud
of your child’s achievements they’ve
accomplished this year.
During May we will explore a variety of
themes correlating with nursery rhymes, the
season of spring, Memorial Day, and of course,
how we love our Mom’s.
If you have not registered your child for

SCHOOL AGERS:
This year is flying by, and the end is
almost here. That means that it is time to start
thinking about summer camp!
Miss Rachel and Miss Breanna are
hosting summer camp this year. A letter was
sent home describing all the field trips, and
items your camper will need in order to have an
awesome time! We are very excited to see
returning faces and new faces this summer!
Our school agers have a few days off of
school this month. On Friday, May 1st, the
school agers have a half day of school. The next
day off is Monday 4th, and on Friday the 22nd for
Memorial weekend. Please visit the Parents
Information board to sign your child up for
those days. Just a reminder, Care-A-Lot will be
closed on Monday the 25th for Memorial Day.
The weather is finally warming up,
which means that the school agers will be going
outside more often. Please make sure that your
child has sneakers on so that they can play on
the big climber. If you also wish for your child to
wear sunscreen before going outside, please
bring in a labeled bottle and give it to one of the
school age teachers. We can apply it as often as
you would like.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our
wonderful moms!
Miss Kim, Miss Rachel, Miss Sharne,
Miss Breanna
