Adjournment: 2:28 PM Minutes recorded by Barbara Circle, Secretary of Classified Senate, 2012-2013 ELECTION COMMITTEE REPORT Each year in June, the Classified Senate holds elections to fill vacancies for positions where needed. This year, we had eight vacancies due to resignations, persons not willing to serve a second two-year term and those not eligible to return due to term limits. The Election Committee sent emails to each classified employee within those areas on May 27th, 2013 asking for people to serve. From that mailing, four individuals either nominated themselves or were nominated by someone from their own service area. A meeting with Classified Senate, President Tim Anderson, yielded comprehension of which areas needed served. Each area was then emailed an anonymous ballot on June 3rd, 2013 to submit with their area’s nominees names listed. Only time and date stamps of each vote, along with the resulting choice were recorded. No personal information was gathered to ensure the ballot was anonymous. In the Auxiliary Services area, there were no nominees, thus no one was elected at this time. At our July 10th, 2013 meeting nominees can be submitted to fill either of these two positions as Senators At Large. Should someone from the Auxiliary Services area wish to be elected, we encourage them to attend the July 10th, 2013 meeting and they will not be considered “Serving At Large.” Otherwise, these two positions will be filled by other interested individuals who will be designated as SAL or “Serving At Large.” In the Central Power area, there were no nominees, thus no one was elected at this time. At our July 10th, 2013 meeting nominees can be submitted to fill the remaining position as Senator At Large. Should someone from the Central Power area wish to be elected, we encourage them to attend the July 10th, 2013 meeting and they will not be considered “Serving At Large.” Otherwise, this position will be filled by other interested individuals who will be designated as SAL or “Serving At Large.” In the Custodial Services area, Dina Gladson was nominated, accepted the nomination, and voted in by a 4-0 vote to serve her 1st Term of two years beginning July 1st, 2013 and ending June 30th, 2015.
