John T. Trump is listed in the 1880 Union Twp, Parke County Indiana census as
living with his son, Thomas Trump (age 36) and his family, and as being "father",
69 years old born in PA, farm laborer, and both parents born in PA. Elizabeth,
"mother" is 59 years old, born in KY, assisting at home and, both parents born in
VA.
I am seeking information on John Trump's parents and siblings. I speculate that
because of the age difference between John and Elizabeth that he might have
been married before. Thanks for any help and I hope this information helps other
researchers.

On account of the very dry weather, much difficulty was had in getting the grave
dug. Mrs. Trump suffered a paralytic strove 17 weeks ago. Mr. Trump is a

“Mrs. Rose Trump, age 82, died in the Donna nursing home in Cloverdale,
Saturday evening, July 20. She was the widow of ‘Bill’ Trump and had lived in
Parke County several years.
Survivors include a son, William E. of Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 44 greatgrandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held, Tuesday morning, at the Whitaker funeral home
in Greencastle with burial in the Clinton Falls Cemetery.”

“John TRUMP, age 59, was found dead in bed early last Saturday morning by his
wife. He seemingly had been in his usual health, had worked the day before and
probably died of a sudden heart attack. Mr. Trump had been employed at the
Jack Thomas fur store on the south side for the past nine years. He was born and
brought up near the Parke and Putnam County line, but had resided in Rockville
for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, one son, Russell of Terre Haute and
a daughter, Mrs. Everett Burns by a former marriage, five brothers and one sister
– Ray, William, Robert, Ted, and Jacob and Mrs. Deal Riddle of Rockville. The
funeral was held at the home, Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Charles Barnes

Armstead Cox was born June 20, 1838, in Boyle county, Kentucky; died Aug 20,
1907, at his home in West Union, Parke county, Ind., age 69 years and 2 months.
At the age of 17 he came with his parents to near Waveland. In 1861 he was
married to Miss Mary Trump of Parke county and to them were born 10 children--5
girls and 5 boys: Mrs. Lizzie Sutherlin of West Union; Mary Alice, who died at the
age of 9 months; Charles Morton; Mrs. Harriet Ellen Barker of Cates Station;
Thomas William; Mrs. Martha Frances Pruett of Rockville; Armstead Clay; John
Sherman; James Arthur and Mahala Belle. All the living children were at the
bedside of their dying father. Other relatives were also present; Armstead's only
surviving brother and sister, George and Mrs. Thomas Trump, witnessing the
departure of their brother to the great beyond.
Funeral services were conducted by G. H. Linebarger at the grave, West Union
cemetery. Our friend, Armstead Cox's death was attributed to stepping on a nail
resulting in blood poisoning. His physicians could alleviate pain, but could not

Waveland Independent, Thursday, Feb 20, 1936 – A short funeral service for the
late Mrs. William Barton was held at the home of her daughter in Indianapolis
after which the body was brought to the home of Mrs. Dan Murphy in
Crawfordsville where on account of Mrs. Murphy’s illness, another short service
was held on Thursday afternoon. The body was then brought to the home in
North side. On Friday funeral services at the Methodist Church of Russellville,
assisted by Rev. NT Gottschall, Claude Lydick, Corta Dooley, Mrs. Oris Reiter and
Mrs. Harry Ramsay with Mrs. Banta at the piano sang. The casket was carried by
Guy Durham, Jesse Barton, Will Barton, Clarence Barton, Dean Murray and EC
Friar. The flowers were borne by Mrs. Garrie Dillman. Mrs. Dan Goodwin, Mrs.
Hubert Loudermill, Mrs. CM Moore, Mrs. Nelson Miles, Mrs. olive Lough, Mrs.
Chester Harbison and Misses Grace Bugg and Mary Barton. Mrs. William R.
Barton, daughter of John and Mildred Trump was born in Parke County, Indiana
in 1852. She was one of a family of 10 children: Elmer, Lizzie, James, Jesse, Will,
Sadie, Ina, Harry, Harve and Irene. During her early life she united with the
Methodist Episcopal Church, remaining in the same to her death. At her
departure she leaves 7 children: Mrs. Lizzie Bugg of Indianapolis; Mrs. Guy
Durham of Waveland; Mrs. Bert Murray of Russellville; Mrs. Dan Murphy of
Crawfordsville; James of Florida; Jess of Indianapolis and Will of Logansport.
Besides these 7 children, she leaves 17 grandchildren and 11 greats. Mrs. Barton
died at the ripe old age of 84. If the gates of heaven ….
--------Waveland Independent, Nov 27, 1914 -- Mrs. W.R. Barton has been in poor health
for some time, and her physician decided that her illness was largely owing to
decaying and suppurating teeth. In the last few days she has had 27 pulled and
already feels better.

William R. Barton was born in Kentucky, Jan 11, 1852 and died May 18, 1926 aged
74 years. On the 4th of Jan 1872 he was married to Catherine Ellen Trump. To
this union were born 10 children, one of whom died in childhood. He is survived
by the widow and the follow children: James B. of Little Rock, Ark; Jesse of Col.
Springs, Col; William of Logansport; Harvey of Lebanon; Harry of Ft. Sill, Okla.;
Mrs. John Bugg of Bainbridge; Mrs. Dan Murphy of Crawfordsville; Mrs. Bert
Murray of Russellville; and Mrs. Guy Durham of Waveland. He also leaves 18
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. William R. Barton was a man of
positive ideas; with strong likes and dislikes, but in the final analysis he was
considerate, forgiving and kind. By nature he was a seeker after the truth -- he
tried to inform himself on different subjects in order that his judgements might be
founded on facts; thus he developed a mind that was broad and charitable, ever
conceding to the other fellow the same rights and privileges he demanded for
himself. He was an adherent to the Primitive Baptist Church and a member of the
Odd Fellows Lodge. To the principles and teachings of both he was very
devoted. During the last years of his life he was practically an invalid - he
suffered much pain but endured it with patience. During his pain and suffering he
found much relief in the love and kindness shown him by his children and
especially by that true, deep and unselfish love shown and extended to him,
during every hour of the day or night, during his sickness by the angel of mercy -that mother of mothers - his faithful wife and companion. He has gone; may
peace be to his ashes and rest to his soul.

this place died this forenoon from complications after having suffered bad health
for two years. Mr. Barton was born Jan 11, 1852 in Kentucky and married
Catherine Ellen Trump Jan 4, 1872. The greater part of his life he was employed in
traveling for various mercantile concerns. He is survived by his widow and nine

on Feb 11, 1886, the son of William R. and Catherine Barton. He married Lena
Snyder. He worked for the Pennsylvania RR out of Logansport most of his life,

Methodist Church on Friday afternoon Rev. Victor Keiser officiating. Burial was
at Union Cem. where the services were in charge of the American Legion. Harry
G. Barton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Barton was born at Waveland
Indiana November 24, 1887 and died at the Walter Reed Government Hospital at
Washington DC June 26, 1932 at the age of 44 years and 7 months. At his
departure he leaves his mother, 4 brothers, James of Wisconsin; Will of
Logansport; Harve of Jamestown and Jess of Bloomingdale; also 4 sisters, Mrs.

Rockville Republican Thursday Oct 29, 1936 -- Charles Morton Cox, son of
Armstead and Mary Virginia Cox, was born in Putnam County August 8, 1867 and
after only a few hours illness departed this life at the home of his niece, Mrs.
James Woody, Oct 17, 1936, age 69 years 2 months 9 days. He was the third child
of a family of 10 children, three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Barker, Mrs. Elizabeth Ann
Sutherlin and a baby sister, Mary Alice, having preceded him to the great beyond.
His surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Martha Frances Pruett of Terre Haute,
William, Clay and John of West Union and James and Mrs. Belle Rohr of

Montezuma. He was married in Putnam County to Clara Burks and to them was
born one daughter, Ollie, who was married to Frank Rohr and preceded her father
in death by a few years. After the death of this wife Mort, as he was familiarly
known moved with his little daughter, Ollie and his father and family to West
union near half a century ago. Later he married Susie, daughter of David
Linebarger, and to them was born one son William who was with his father at the
time of his death. This wife died when the son was quite young and Mort with his
son and daughter resided with his father and family. His father died August 20,
1907 and they continued living with his mother until her death, January 10, 1924.
Since that time he has lived in the homes of near relatives. Besides the above
mentioned, surviving relatives are six grandchildren, a number of nieces and
nephews and great nieces and nephews. This kindly, unassuming man loyal
always to relatives and friends has thru the goodly number of years allotted to
him made a place both in the family circle and the community from which he will
be sadly missed. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die."

Obituary from Max Bond's grandmother's scrapbook (Mrs. Grover Dowden) -William L. Barker, son of Felix and Mary E. Barker, was born in Parke Co. on Jan
17, 1857 and passed from this life Sept. 8, 1930 at the age of 73 years, 8 months
and 14 days, his illness lasting only a few days. All was done for him that loving
hands could do but God in his Goodness saw fit to call him. He was united in
marriage to Harriet Cox. To this union was born Earl and Eartha, both of whom
are now deceased. Ten years ago he was deprived of a loving wife and has since
spent his life in loneliness. In his boyhood days he united with the Christian
church. Funeral services were held at Coopers Chapel Wednesday morning with
Rev. Tharpe officiating. Interment in Cooper's Chapel.

William A. "Bill" Trump, 77, of Crawfordsville, passed away Tuesday morning in
his home.
Mr. Trump was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He attended schools at
Ladoga and Crawfordsville. He worked at R. R. Donnelley for several years,
retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and American Legion.
Mr. Trump was born September 12, 1930 in Ladoga to Oscar and Mable Smith
Trump. He married Joan Wells Trump on April 3, 1953 in Indianapolis. She passed
away May 29, 2005.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen (John) Toney and Jackie (Darrel)
Chambers, both of Crawfordsville and Pam (Wes) Howard of Darlington, one
sister, Lottie (Jim) Kidd of Crawfordsville and one brother, Dale (Ruth) Trump of
Crawfordsville, as well as five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Louise Taylor, Wilma Walker, Alice
Walker, Lelah Burks and Helen Malayer
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 PM in Burkhart Funeral Home with
Wes Howard presiding. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery South with military
rites by the American Legion and VFW. Family and friends can pay their respects
Thursday from Noon to 2 PM at the funeral home.

Waveland Independent, Jan 12, 1934 -- Harvey BARTON, a former resided died
unexpectedly while assisting a neighbor in butchering, near his home south of
Advance on Friday morning. While living here he was a fireman on the old
Midland, removing to Lebanon on account of charge in road service. The body
was buried in Old Union Cemetery on Saturday afternoon after services a t the ME
Church in charge of Rev. IP Green. The casket was carried by James Gilliland;
Harold Gilliland; Wilfred Greve; Clem Moody; Robert Moore and Dan Goodwin.
The flowers were carried by Misses Grace Bugg; Ruth and Margaret Trout and
Mrs. Walter Friar. Mrs. Fred Rice; Mrs. Orris Reiter; Corta Dooley and Claude
Lydick with Mrs. Banta at the piano sang, The Old Rugged Cross; In the Garden
and The City Four Square. Harvey Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Barton
was born in 1881, died at the age of 52. He was one of a family of 10 children. Of
this family he is survived by his mother; 3 brothers, James of Florida; Will of
Logansport and Jesse of Indianapolis; four sisters, Mrs. Bert Murray of
Russellville; Mrs. John Bugg of Indianapolis; Mrs. Dan Murphy of Crawfordsville
and Mrs. Guy Durham living near Waveland. On July 11, 1904 he was united in
marriage to Clara Yount. To this union were born 8 children, seven of whom with

the mother survive: Clarence of Lebanon; Frank, John and Charles living at
home; Mildred Parke of Frankfort and Eleanor and Mary at home. He was a
member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Lebanon and Methodist Church of
Waveland. Harve, as he was familiarly known was a hard working, industrious
citizen, a good neighbor and a true friend -- devoted and faithful to his wife, and
children at every turn -- for them he lived and labored -- for them he loved and
carried on. His home was his castle and within its sacred precincts his happiest
hours were spent. His home to the stranger, might seem humble, but there was
at all times burning in it a light of devotion, a faithfulness and love, coupled with
childhood laughter and mellowed with smiles of tender affection that made it
most beautiful. It was within this sphere he reigned as an uncrowned king and
from a simple life well lived he obtained and enjoyed many of life's richest
treasurers. .. ..May he rest in peace.

1:45 p.m. at Lebanon. She was born July 18, 1885 in Waveland, daughter of Mort
and Sarah Nicholson YOUNT. She married Harry Harvey (John Harvey) Barton
July 18, 1905 at Waveland. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Barton moved to
Lebanon in 1924. Prior to that time she lived at Waveland. She had made her
home with a daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Whittinghill for 14 years. She was a member
of Waveland Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge, Zionsville. Survivors include
Mrs. Whittinghill, RR Thorntown; MIldred Lawton, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Mary
Lynch, Indianapolis; Clarence, Lebanon Frank, Jamestown; John, Whitestown;

Waveland Independent, Nov 23, 1923 -- Harvey Barton's son, Frank had a narrow
escape from death on Wednesday morning. He was playing shinny with some
other boys in front of his home on West Main Street and backed in the way of Dr.
Harbeson's auto. The machine passed over him but luckily didn't hurt him. The
marshal gives notice elsewhere for the boys to stop knocking tin cans about the
streets. It is dangerous to them and for other people, and for window lights.

Clara Barton was born Aug 7, 1907, died Feb 12, 1910, aged 2 years 6 months 5
days. Her young and tender heart was filled to overflowing with kindness,
obedience, and love. The light of her smiles and the sweetness of her life won a
permanent abode in the hearts of all with whom she came in contact. She
seemed to be cast in a superior mould, manifesting such traits of character as
goodness of heart, purity of life, a wisdom and understanding which has often
called forth the expression, from many who are approaching the footlights of the
western slope of life, that she was too good, too intelligent, possessing that
expression of something that makes her not a child of this world but an angel of
God and that to him she would early wheel her flight. She has gone home, an
angel of earth for a few days; now an angel in Heaven forever. She has
exchanged the cares and caresses of the cradle for the endless glories of an
endless day. One more flower of earth transplanted into the greenhouse of

Tri-County News, Dec 10, 1964 – Mrs. Ina Durham, 74 of Waveland sustained a
fatal heart attack about 9 p.m. Monday Nov 30, 1964 while she was attending an
Order of Eastern Star Lodge meeting at the Masonic Hall here. Mrs. Durham lived
most of her life in this community and for many years was in charge of the annual
cancer Food Drive. She was a charter member of OES and American Legion
Auxiliary, Waveland. She also was a member of the Waveland Methodist Church,
and Home Economics Club and Department Club. She was recording secretary of
the church and a member of the Modern Martha class of the church. Born in
Montezuma she was a daughter of William and Sarah Trump Barton. She married
Guy Durham Dept 19, 1906 at Crawfordsville. Survivors include the husband, a
daughter, Mrs. Harry Inskeep; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Murphy; 7 grandsons; six great

grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted
Thursday morning for Ina B. Durham at the Machledt & Services Funeral Home,
Waveland; Rev. Walter Porter officiated, assisted by Rev. Paul Bingham and Rev.
CN McBrayer. Pallbearers were Keith, David, Robert, Philip, Roland and Don
Inskeep, all grandsons of Mrs. Durham. Flowers were carried by the pallbearers
and granddaughters-in-law. NR Walker played soft music on the organ. Burial in
Old union Cemetery, Waveland.

Tri-County News Nov 22, 1956 – On Thursday evening Nov 14, friends, neighbors
and well wishers met at the Waveland Methodist Church with well filled baskets to
honor 3 Golden Wedding couples. All 3 are members of the church and reached
their 50th anniversary in 3 consecutive months. August, September and October
of this year. They are M/M Elby Emmert; M/M Guy Durham and m/M Homer
Robison. However, on account of illness, Mr. and Mrs. Robison were unable to
attend. In the receiving line with the honor guests were Rev. and Mrs. Morris and
Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Deere who will observe their Golden in December. These
were later seated at the honor table which was decorated with gold-colored place
mats; gold-colored candle sticks with white candles and place cards which held
bride and groom favors and gold ribbons. In the center of the table was a large
white cake, baked by Mrs. Myrtle Banta and decorated in white and gold colored
icing by Mrs. Violet Overstreet. The reception room was decorated with a large
white bell with white and gold streamers. The registration table adorned with
bride and groom dolls was in charge of Dean Emmert, Judy Banta and David
Rafferty. Pamela Sharp with a bride doll on her table, had charge of the favors.
Other tables were decorated with bride and groom dolls and white candles in
crystal holders. After a beautiful meal a program was given with Mrs. TS Banta
acting as toastmistress and consisting of reading by TS Banta. That Girl, solo by
Mrs. Victor Pence, When You and I Were Young Maggie reading by Mrs. Reiter;
Just Before Thanksgiving duet by Mr. and Mrs. Paul Emmert in costume; Put on
Your Old Grey Bonnet, reading by TS Banta; Mother Tells Her Story by Elgar A.
Guest; solo by Mrs. Pence Memories; Mrs. Mildred Evans was the accompanist.
Guest books were presented to the honor couples by Machledt & Services.
Remarks were given by Rev. Morris, pastor of the church and he also pronounced
the benediction. It was a memorable occasion and all congratulated the couples
and wished them many more years of happiness together. Committee in charge
included Mrs. TS Banta; Mrs. Virginia Sharpe; Mrs. Myrtle Banta; Mrs. Violet
Overstreet and Mrs. Naomi Moser assisted by other members of the church.

Charles and Henrietta Norcross Durham. He was married to Ina Barton at

had been seriously ill the past 2 ½ weeks. Mrs. Inskeep was a daughter of Guy

Harry S. Inskeep in Lafayette April 18, 1930. She was a member of the Darlington
Methodist Church. A graduate of Waveland HS and Indiana State, Mrs. Inskeep
taught in the schools at Sheridan, Wingate and New Richmond. Surviving are the
husband; the father of Waveland; 7 sons: Donald; Roland; Keith; Philip; David;
Robert; and Larry and six grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday
morning at the Waveland Methodist Church with Rev. Ewart Talley officiating and
assisted by Rev. AL Vermillion and Rev. Robert Hansen. The sons of Mrs.
Inskeep were pallbearers; the daughters-in-law assisted with the flowers. The
Lord’s Prayer and Sweet Hour of Prayer were sung by Mrs. John mow and

(picture) died in Ben Hur Nursing Home Crawfordsville On Monday morning. He
had taught school 35years retiring in 1966. He taught at New Ross; Bowers;
Linden; Darlington; Sheridan and Triton Central and was principal at Advance.
Mr. Inskeep was a member of Jamestown Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star;
Indiana State Teachers Association; national Education Association; New Ross
united Methodist Church and Senior Citizens. He was a graduate of New
Richmond HS and DePauw University and received his master's degree from
Indiana University. Born Jan 10, 1905 at New Richmond, he was a son of William
and Cora Simison Inskeep. In 1930 he was married to Ruth Durham who died in
1965. On August 24, 1966 he was married to Evangeline Harris. Surviving are the
widow; 7 sons: Harry D; Roland L; R. Keith; Philiip G; David G; Larry D; and
Robert D; a stepdaughter, Patricia Schulte; two brothers, John and George; 19

Michael L. Boots
May 4, 1955-April 5, 2011
Michael L. Boots, 55, South Sioux City, Neb., and formerly of Waveland, passed
away April 5, 2011, at his residence.
He had worked in advertising and sales for The Dakota County Star, South Sioux
City, Neb., the Journal Review and The Paper of Montgomery County.
He was an umpire for softball and baseball and served as a referee for football
and basketball.
Memberships included Sunnybrook Community Church and he had attended
Browns Valley Christian Church. He also belonged to Waveland Masonic Lodge
No. 300 and Omadi Masonic Lodge No. 5 in South Sioux City, Neb.
He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Mr. Boots was a 1974 graduate of Southmont High School; he attended Indiana
State University and received an Associates Degree from Indiana Vocational
College.
He was born May 4, 1955, in Crawfordsville, a son of Lawrence and Stella (Bell)
Boots. He married Gina Seybold on July 28, 1979, at Browns Valley Christian
Church. She survives.

Survivors include two daughters, Stacia Boots of Fayetteville, N.C., and Aubrie
Boots of South Sioux City, Neb; his mother, Stella (Ron) Steele, of Indianapolis;
and a brother, Robert Boots, of Hartsburg, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Boots, on April 4, 1981.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Powers-Priebe Funeral Home, 315
S. Washington St., Crawfordsville, with the Rev. Mike Whitacre and the Rev. David
Bock officiating.
Burial will be in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery at New Market with a private family
graveside service at the cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at the funeral home.
