Job Description Shell Health Albian Sands (SHAS) is a division within Shell that is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of our employees, contractors and neighbours by eliminating, reducing or mitigating health risks at the workplace. Also providing health leadership for Shell through the implementation of standardized risk processes, we add value to business performance by identifying and managing health-related business risks. In support of the SHAS Team Manager, this role provides clinical and technical support and leadership to the SHAS team. Responsibilities: Requirement s Supervises administrative and technical staff in delivery of OH services to the site, e.g. pre-placement and periodic fitness to work and medical surveillance assessments, including testing for same (vision, hearing, spirometry, A&D, CVS risk score), occupational injury/illness & Workers Compensation Board reporting and statistics. Includes managing staff and scheduling. Responsible for clinical management & timely review/final completion of preplacement & periodic fitness to work/medical surveillance health assessments per legal, business & Group/SH requirements (may include escalation for internal MD review as necessary). Act as SHAS Focal for BeWell/Culture of Health Carries a disability case load (may produce program case stats for all RN disability case managers). Also provides case back-up coverage when one of the disability case management staff is away (e.g. vacation cover). Assists case RNs with medical case management of less complex cases, & escalates more complex cases to MD, as appropriate. Performs trend analysis for improvement opportunities and primary prevention. Assists medical centre RNs with appropriate mid-level questions (e.g. medication review). Is a member of the SHAS leadership team and shares call as a member of the Health Lead on call duty roster. Must be fully familiar with day-to-day health centre operations, in order to assist/advise as necessary. Nurse Practitioner (NP), licensed and member in good standing with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta Specialized training in occupational health nursing: occupational health nursing certificate or equivalent, and certification as an occupational health nurse Current CPR/AED, BLS, advanced First aid/ITLS, ACLS, audiometric technician and pulmonary function testing certification, breath alcohol technician & drug test specimen collector certification Disability medical case management and occupational injury/illness management & reporting, experience Five to ten years previous remote industrial, particularly oil & gas, experience preferable Previous supervisory and business administration experience preferable Functional computer skills – comfortable with learning and working with electronic medical record systems Identifies and maximizes opportunities to provide quality health services in a riskbased, value-added, cost-effective manner. Generates innovative ideas to improve service Challenges inappropriate and non-priority demands Exhibits adaptability and is receptive to change Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills to work with team as well as internal and external clients/stakeholders.
