POSTDOC POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL CANCER GENOMICS
Cancer Genomic and BioComputing Lab
Job description: A position is available for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in the
Cancer Genomics Lab at the Bar-Ilan University, the Faculty of Medicine in Galilee. The
researcher will be involved in the analysis of different cancer genomics data, including tumour
genome and transcriptome sequencing data, focused particularly in the identification of chimeric
transcripts and fusion proteins as cancer drivers and early biomarkers. The successful applicant
will join a multidisciplinary team with a strong international collaboration.
The group studies design principles of pre-mRNAs trans-splicing in higher eukaryotes,
microRNAs, circular RNAs, competitive-endogenous RNAs, and fusion proteins in cancer. The
group focuses on identifying diagnostic biomarkers in cancer, personalized therapeutics, single
cell and population sequencing, alterations in the protein-protein interaction networks of fusion
proteins, trans-splicing of non-coding RNAs and cell-cycle dependent regulation of oncoproteins. The strategy of the group is to incorporate experimental high-throughput sequencing and
Proteomics with mathematical modeling, statistics and graph analysis of RNA transcripts that
possess cell-cycle-dependent dynamics, into models of cancer networks. The group's datasets are
different types of biological data, from Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and massspectrometry datasets to gene expression arrays.
Qualifications and experience: The ideal candidate would have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics,
computer science, genomics, molecular biology or other relevant fields of biology, with strong
first-author publications in computational genomics, cancer genomics, or a closely-related field.
Experience in the NGS analyses, and knowledge in R programming will be an advantage. She/he
should have strong analytical, statistical, quantitative, and computational/programming skills, in
addition to creativity, enthusiasm, and ability to work independently.
Contract: Full-time position for 12 months with the possibility of extension.
To apply: Please send a CV, letter of interest and the contact information for 2-3 referees by
email to Dr. Milana Frenkel-Morgenstern, mmorgenstern@cnio.es
