JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE:
Senior Front of House Assistant
REPORTS TO:
Front of House Manager
FUNCTION:
To assist the Front of House Manager with all aspects of the
Museums Front of House, retail and ticket operation. To work
within and support the Front of House team to deliver all identified
requirements.
DUTIES INCLUDE:

To deliver customer service excellence to all visitors and guests
of the Museum.

To maximise the Museum’s income from all ticket and retail
sales.

To maximise Gift Aid returns.

To assist the site Front of House Manager in the day to day
supervision of Front of House staff including training and
maintenance of required operating procedures and standards.

To prepare and administer Front of House staff rota’s in the
absence of the Front of House Manager and amend them as
necessary to ensure the smooth running of the Front of House
operation.

To maintain the required till, cashing up and banking
procedures as well as stock take procedures and ensure staff are
fully conversant with and comply with the requiredMuseum
standards.

To maintain required Front of House administrative systems in
the absence of the Front of House Manager.

To maintain an excellent knowledge and understandingof the
shop product ranges and pricing systems.

Maintain up to date knowledge of the Museum’s visitor offer
and communicate this information accurately to visitors and
telephone enquirers.

To maintain a smart and tidy appearance and wear a uniform at
all times in line with the Museum’s Customer Service Charter
and to assist the Front of House Manager by ensuring staff also
comply with these standards.

To upload stock and display items in the shop which may
include lifting and bending

To act as a key holders for the shop/reception building.

To comply with the Museums security procedures.

To comply with the Museums Health and Safety Policy and
procedures.

To comply with the duties required as part of the site fire plan
and assist in the training of new members of staff.

Any other duties commensurate with the post.

Essential
 Experience of working in a customer service environment
 Enjoys meeting a wide range of people
 Excellent communication skills
 Supervisory experience
 Ability to work as part of a team
 Ability to work on own initiative
 Flexible attitude to work and able to work weekends as required
 Experience of working in a retail environment
 Full driving licence and access to own transport
Desirable
 Relevant NVQ in customer service
