JEWISH FEDERATION & FAMILY SERVICES, ORANGE COUNTY Rose Project Student Leadership Development Coordinator Organization: Jewish Federation & Family Services, Orange County brings together the people, the partners and the resources to care for people in need, to build a vibrant community and to sustain and enhance Jewish life. JFFS’ Rose Project was established in 2008 to enhance Jewish life on Orange County college campuses and to develop capable, self-sufficient Jewish student leaders to carry out activities on these campuses. Position Overview: The Rose Project seeks a highly motivated person with experience in student leadership development and Israel advocacy to manage a multi-campus leadership development program for Jewish students. Applicants should be detailedoriented self-starters who can work independently, prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously. This position reports to the Director of The Rose Project with accountability to the Rose Leadership Council and works collaboratively with a campus Israel Fellow. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Recruit college freshmen and sophomores for the leadership program; Develop well-rounded leaders with transferable skills; Implement a comprehensive, two-year curriculum for Jewish student leadership development; Administer and facilitate regular leadership development meetings; schedule guest speakers; facilitate discussions; initiate team building activities; Develop and implement programs, events and retreats relevant to the student leadership development process; Mentor program participants to empower them as Jewish campus leaders; Facilitate the participation of partner organizations on and off campus; Coordinate mentorship opportunities for participants; Develop program evaluation criteria and assess program based on measurable objectives; Manage a substantial program budget; Critically assess urgent campus issues, devise advocacy strategies, develop buy-in with partner organizations and initiate action; Guide Israel advocacy on campus; Facilitate the engagement of non-Jewish students in student coalitions; Preferred Skills and Experience: The successful candidate should have knowledge of current trends facing Jewish students at U.S. college campuses and experience in Jewish student leadership development and Israel advocacy on campus; excellent program administration and evaluation skills, event organizing skills and public speaking ability; knowledge of Israel and Middle East affairs and Israel advocacy best practices; ability to address complex issues with a clear, nuanced approach and to develop appropriate educational and advocacy initiatives; ability to work with Jewish campus professionals and lay leadership. Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, Jewish studies or related field. Minimum 2 years professional experience. Additional Desired Skills: Knowledge of Orange County campuses, American Jewish community organizations and institutions; political organizing or campus Jewish leadership experience.
