DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 6580 PAY GRADE: 014 CLASS TITLE: ENERGY MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATOR ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is work monitoring, making corrective adjustments to and operating a computerized Energy Management Control System (E.M.C.S.) for multiple office building sites. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. The omission of specific statements does not preclude management from assigning specific duties not listed herein if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Monitors temperature environment trends and establishes optional energy output and usage by load-shedding available power to building sites during peak demand times. Operates and monitors the operation of computerized heating, ventilation and air conditioning system components and associated peripheral equipment. Operates a computer controlled monitoring system to insure proper building temperature and environment and effective utilization of equipment. Observes and adjusts control systems from heating, ventilation and air conditioning (H.V.A.C.) spool data received from each building location. Monitors log report printer to determine and react to run times, temperature profiles, energy consumption trends and other data. Reads and analyzes trend logs for each building and building system and reacts in a positive manner to curb or eliminate substantial deviations in energy consumption. Monitors alarm printer to determine source and type of alarm and reacts to same. Analyzes computer readouts from C.R.T. display and printouts in order to make appropriate adjustments to system or to make program changes in building environment. After power failures occur, incumbent monitors and assures that equipment is restarted in proper sequence to preclude excessive demand on electrical systems. Keeps operational and trend logs up-to-date, noting man-hours worked, operational trends and changes in energy consumption, equipment or power failures causing downtime and related maintenance time denoting changes in building temperature. Coordinates maintenance activities by ensuring that proper supervisors, skilled tradesmen and/or technicians are contacted regarding maintenance needs. 6580-ENERGY MANAGEMENT CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATOR-CS Makes emergency decisions affecting systems operation and/or shutdown.
