SUBJECT: I. UTILITY PLANT OPERATOR OBJECTIVE: 1. II. Responsible for operations in generation and water production facilities. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 1. III. Reports to: Operator-in-Charge, Plant Foreman and Plant Superintendent. RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Water Plant: 1. Know and understand all safety policies and rules. 2. Monitoring, operating and logging of all running water production equipment. 3. Make minor repairs to keep equipment operable, under the supervision of the Plant Foreman. 4. Mixes and feeds chemicals for water production process, maintains correct flow rates and temperatures. 5. Performs water tests for pH level, chlorine, fluoride, color, total dissolved solids, conductivity, iron, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, ammonia and phosphate. 6. Operates Microfilter unit SCADA system and performs chemical cleaning procedure. 7. Operates Nanofilter unit SCADA system and performs chemical cleaning procedure. 8. Inspects water storage and distribution facilities. 9. Takes water meter reads for daily log totals. 10. Utilizes PC for log documentation and form prints. 11. Must be able to start, put online and secure all boilers. 12. Monitoring of all boilers, chemical additions for pH correction and performance of blow down routine. 13. Monitors glycol heating system. 14. Monitors and operates all valves, pumps, chemicals tanks and SCADA systems as required to keep the water plant in production. 15. Monitors fire detection and sprinkler systems. 16. Required to perform other duties as specified by Plant supervision. 17. As a minimum, must test for and obtain Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation Water Treatment License as specified and will keep license current for entire term of employment. B. Generation Plant: 1. Know and understand all safety policies and rules. 2. Monitors and records data and meter reads from the control room, turbine packages and associated switchgear. 3. Able to start, synchronize, put online and secure all generators under normal or emergency situations. 4. Performs routine operational duties associated with power plant operations, adding oil, wipe downs, monitors fire and gas detection systems, battery banks, compressors and plant clean up. C. Policy: 1. Shall be familiar with all applicable Cooperative policy and adherence to said policies. D. Drivers License: 1. Shall be able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Alaska Drivers License. IV. V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Able to lift 100 lbs., i.e. chemical containers and heavy equipment. 2. Ability to utilize all types of safety equipment, i.e. head gear, ear protection, eye protection, respirators and other safety devices. 3. Must work in adverse weather condition, extreme cold and dark areas, i.e. turbine filter air intakes. 4. Must be able to work in high areas, i.e. roof tops, ladders and catwalks. 5. Must be able to work in confined space areas. 6. Requires full range of physical motion to perform all manner of routine operational and maintenance duties associated with this position. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: A. Internal: 1. Reports to Operator-in- Charge, Plant Foreman and Plant Superintendent. B. External: 1.
