This rubric will be used to grade students on their participation in the jigsaw activity. Along
with a teachers grade the students will grade those in their group (the second group where they
are teaching) and an personal grade. These will then be averaged together. The teacher has final
say on grades.
Citizenship Group Project Topics
Every group will need to complete one of the following projects. All group members will need
to participate. There will be presentations at between 5 and 7 minutes long and students will be
graded based on the rubric handed out in class. If students cannot finish preparation for the
presentations in class they will need to work outside of class to finish. Students should base their
projects off of the material discussed in class.
Skit- Students will create a skit demonstrating how to either be a good citizen or a bad citizen.
The skit should last at least 5 minutes. Students should write out a script to be turned in to the
teacher. Every student should have a part in the production, suggested parts are director, actors,
writer.
Website – Students should design a website with information on how to be either a good or bad
citizen. All group members should participate in some way. There should be at least one main
page and 3 sub pages. These pages should include text and graphics. Some suggested additional
material are video, pictures, or cartoons.
Children’s Book – Students should write and illustrate a children’s book explaining how to be a
good citizen. This book must be at least 10 pages long with illustrations on every page. The
language must be appropriate for children.
Advertisement Campaign- Students will create advertisements that show either how to be a
good or a bad citizen. Groups must choose 3 of the following examples or if you wish to do
another activity it must be approved by the teacher, video ad, computer ad, poster, pamphlet,
survey, flyer, event.
News Broadcast-Students will create a short news story on how to be a good citizen. All group
members must participate in some way. The story should be at least 5 minutes long. Groups
should turn in a script to go along with the assignment.
Recipe- Students will create at least three recipes on how to be 1. A good citizen 2. A bad citizen
and 3. An average citizen. These recipes should be written in a recipe format (list ingredients
and then instructions on how to make).
