Preterit Verbs: IR and SER.
Go over the information and forms of these 2 irregular verbs: IR/SER.

-practice with the irregular verbs: IR/SER (see pg.140)
-Do Actividad 19 to further practice with these 2 irregular verbs.
-Extra practice: You’ll listen to several statements where the forms of IR/SER are being used
you must guess which of the 2 verbs is being used!
For example Ellos fueron al parque. (IR) Ellos fueron estudiantes. (SER)

-watch the gramática video presentation of the Irregular verbs:
HACER(to do)/TENER(to have)/ESTAR(to be)/PODER(to be able to)
from pg. 142.
-after watching take out your notebook and carefully and beautifully copy the chart into your note!!
*Remember: the preterite of (PODER) is followed by an infinitive: Example:
Nosotros pudimos comer en Gringo’s.
We were able to eat at Gringo’s.
Yo pude copiar la tarea.
I was able to copy to homework.
-Now let’s make a Tree thinking map: Where you you write on column one 3 things you/your friends or
family did yesterday and in column 2 three things you/your friends of family had in the past and don’t
have now. See example:
Usando el Pretérito de HACER y TENER
Lo que HICE o HICIERON
Yo hice la asignación.
Mi madre hizo la cena.
Mis amigos hicieron sus quehaceres.
Lo que TUVE o TUVIMOS
Yo tuve muchas muñecas.

-now put your chart in paragraph form to present to the class:

HACER/TENER/ESTAR/PODER/IR AND SER (see pg.140/142)
-continue with presentations from yesterday.
-create another Tree Thinking Map, but this time writing 3 places where you and others have been
(ESTAR) and 3 things were and others were able to do. (PODER)
Ejemplo:
En Donde ESTUVE o ESTUVIERON
Oue PUDE o PUDIERON hacer
Yo estuve en Disney el verano pasado.
Yo pude ir al baile.
Mis padres estuvieron en Canada el año pasado. Mi hermano pudo hacer la tarea.
Mí amiga estuvo en Europa la semana pasada.
Nosotros pudimos viajar a Cancun.

-Quiz on SER and IR “Because they conjugate the same, be able to tell me which verb is being used in
each statement!
-after the quiz work on a cut and paste project using the other 4 Irregular verbs in the Preterit
tense!!
