Japanese Puppet Project
Japanese theatre has many different forms. The Noh, Kabuki and the Bunraku puppets.
With this project we are going to combine different elements from each form. From the Noh,
we are going to use music, from Kabuki we are going to use the character types and from
Bunraku, puppets.
Tasks to complete:




Create a script that has at least one Villain character, a Heroic character and a Female
character. You can have more than one of each.
Choose a piece of music to go along with your script. This will be played to begin your
piece and end it. You don’t have to play it all throughout your scene.
You will then make puppets for the different characters. They need to be hand puppets.
Like sock or brown paper bag. Bring in supplies to complete these puppets.
In performance, you may choose to be behind something so you cannot be seen. Or be
seen but using the puppet for the characters.

Music (does it go with your script?) (10)

-Is it clear what character they go with (colors, decorations etc) (15)
-are they neat and well put together? (15)
Performance
