Weather
You need to come equipped with enough warm and comfortable clothing suited to the activities. The Lake District
weather may be cold, wet and windy even in summer. We have a drying room but spares of OLD clothes, socks
and shoes are needed.
Borrowing Specialist Equipment
We provide (free of charge) specialist equipment required for chosen activities. This includes waterproof clothing,
walking boots, wellington boots, rucksacks, lunch boxes and water bottles. If you already have any of this, you can
bring it and we will check for you that all clothing and equipment is suitable for activities and the weather.
Mobile Phones
If you wish to bring your mobile phone remember phones do not like getting wet, muddy and thrown about even
if you do! The instructors carry mobile phones and are in contact with the Centre during activities. At High Borrans
mobile phone reception is poor. We do have a coin operated visitor phone available for making outgoing calls. We
ask your parents and carers not to make social incoming calls as they may be distracting and disrupt activities.
Centre and visiting staff are happy to speak with your parents/carers if they have any concerns regarding your
welfare during the visit, and contact arrangements are in place in the case of an emergency.
