Job Discription and Responsibilities
The Minister of Music for the St. James Full Gospel Baptist Church should be fully devoted to
God, the Church of Jesus Christ and be committed to expressing that devotion in heart-felt
worship through commited service to St. James Full Gospel Baptist Church. The Minister of
Music is encouraged to constantly seek God and the Pastor for spiritual growth and ministry
direction. The Minister of Music should seek to develop leadership skills as well as the
leadership skills of those in the Music Ministry.
Job Title: Minister of Music, St. James Full Gospel Baptist Church
Position Type: Part-Time – Minimum 25hrs/Week (Flexible in arrangement with
REACH Up leader or Senior Pastor.
Reports to: Reach Up Leader > Executive Pastor > Senior Pastor
Evaluated By: REACH Leadership Team, Executive Pastor, and Senior Pastor
Salary: Negotiated upon Hire

The Minister of Music is responsible for the complete Music Experience, Music development,
and Music Life of the Church.

Job Discription and Responsibilities
1. Direct the planning, organizing, conducting and evaluation of a comprehensive muisc
ministry.
2. Exibit strong leadership skills and interpersonal skills that facilitate interaction with
church body, choirs, and praise team members. Exemplify willingness to relate,
communicate, and work with other church staff.
3. Attend Bible Study and Sunday school and be an active and consistent tither.
4. Attend Leadership meetings and church conference quartley reguarly.
5. Work with Reach Up leadership to arrange and achieve Music Ministry Goals
6. Arrange and provide music for weddings, funerals, special serviecs, ministries and other
church-related events.
7. Supervise and maintain the music library, material, instruments, and supplies.
8. Schedule Choirs to accompany Pastor on engagements.
9. Teach vocal arrangements to Choirs and Praise teams
10. Assist in Approving, appraising and selecting music for all choirs and or praise teams.
11. Develop Choir rehersal and practice schedules
12. Play for services as scheduled
13. Accompany Pastor to services at other Churches as requested
14. Supervise work of all Band musicians
15. Develop Band reheresal and Practice schedules
16. Produce Music workshops as needed.
17. Computer Literate
18. Strong Organizational Skills and Time Management
19. Develop Music Ministry Manual and Standard Operating Procedures
20. Be versatile in musical repertoire (traditional gospel, contemporary gospel, spirituals,
praise, and worship)
21. Exibit reasonable level of energy and promote a positive attitude.
22. Perform other duties as assigned by the Reach Leader and Pastor.
