APR Director of Human Resources
Job Description
Position Purpose
Responsible for the Strategic Management and direction of all functional areas of Human
Resources with both a National and Global perspective including, recruiting/sourcing,
employment, compensation strategy and plans, benefits, performance management,
risk/safety, crisis management, employee relations, and leadership training and
development within the HR areas. Ensures Best Practice and compliance with all regulatory
agencies this process/function is held accountable to. HR Director will partner with the COO,
to whom this positions reports, to serve as an internal consultant to management on
leadership and organizational issues that affect, individual, team and organization-wide
performance, development, and capacity to change.
Essential Duties
Participates in the development of APR planning as a strategic partner from the perspective
of the impact on its people resources. Provide leadership and consulting support to APR
management on matters of leaderships, organizational issues, goal setting, policy
development, employee communication and strategic implementation in support of APR
Mission and Goals.
Leads, manages, and develops the Human Resources team with a goal of maintaining a
high level of credibility as an effective, responsive, and knowledgeable internal consulting
group, ensuring compliant, efficient, customer-focused HR support.
Provides and ensures compliant, efficient and customer-focused HR Resources, including
total compensation/wage/salary/benefits, employment or contractor agreements,
risk/safety, Workers Compensation, Unemployment.
Directs, oversees, and manages vendors/3rd party administrators contracted for HR Benefits,
Risk/Safety or HR related functions.
Provides and ensures knowledge of and compliance with all laws concerning employee
benefits, including ERISA and Fiduciary responsibilities, employment, including wage and hour
laws, EEO, international compliance, regulations or requirements of employee versus
contractor and any other regulations related to all Human Resources areas as stated, to
ensure APR compliance.
Support APR knowledge management efforts as they relate to compensation planning,
employee performance, performance management, employee relations matters and
related training and development.
Assist APR Leadership in developing organization structure, systems and process that
contribute to optimum performance, and assist the organization in building its capacity for
change and growth.

Provides recommendations, develops, and implements process and tools for recruiting,
interviewing, hiring, onboarding, performance management, employee relations/discipline
and works with the HR team to provide support in these related areas.
Manages the department’s budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources
department.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree in HR, OD, or Business preferred. Master’s
degree or additional course work, or SPHR, PHR certification preferred.
Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a Human Resources leadership role in an organization
of 100+ employees required. Experience in organizations with a national and/or global
presence, and multiple company locations preferred.
Previous HR experience in a company with a Global staff and company presence preferred.
Previous experience leading a team required.
Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills required, Advanced or Mastery skill level preferred.
Previous experience with Payroll/HR software, HRIS, ATS required.
Demonstrated high level of project management skills, interpersonal, written and oral
communication skills required.
Ability to communicate effectively, collaboratively when needed, and maintain a high level
of professionalism.
Proven ability to learn, interpret, and comply with various legal requirements affecting
Human Resources regulations, methods and procedures.
Ability to think creatively and strategically about the broad goals of APR while following
through on the detail-oriented work required by the position.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and respond to changing priorities
proficiently.
Scope of Authority
 Ability to hire and fire within the HR department.
 Authority to interpret and respond to legal authorities as they relate to all HR functional
areas.
Financial Authority
 Management of the HR budget.
Communications
 External with vendors, government agencies, or clients as requested.
 Internal with all APR employees and Leaders in many national and global locations.

Working Conditions
 Ability to work in APR home office location, Denver, CO.
 Must be able to work independently.
 Work is completed in a standard office environment.
 Sitting approximately 90% of time and working at computer 90% of time.
 Ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, reach, bend throughout the course of the
work day.
 Ability to work on computers including repetitive use of a keyboard and mouse for
long periods throughout the course of the work day.
 Ability to vary work day and location as needed, based on the needs of APR staff
nationally, globally, and associated meetings.
