Objectives: On completion of this course the student will be able to: Describe, defining and pronouncing the basics of building common nursing and medical terms (root words, prefixes and suffixes). Utilize word roots, combining forms, prefixes, suffixes, to analyze unfamiliar nursing and medical terms and phrases. Achieve the necessary skills to read, comprehension and translation appropriate nursing and medical reference materials with an acceptable speed. Achieve the necessary skills to read and summarize appropriate nursing and medical reference materials. Achieve the necessary skills to write a review article by reading nursing and medical articles about a topic. Achieve the necessary skills to oral presentation about nursing and medical subjects. Describe and defining the common medical abbreviations. Identify the components of the major body systems and describe their functions.
