Dear Long Beach Heartwell Girls Softball Parent:
Your daughter may be considered as a player for the Long Beach Heartwell Girls Softball
“District” all star team. Typically there are more girls being considered than roster spots available and there is no guarantee that she will be selected for the All-Star team.
This year, the All-Star selection process is being based on data collected by the coaches in each division that will provide our league’s coaches a practical way to select the All-Star team/s in all divisions. While it is an honor to be selected, all player/parents who choose to participate must understand and meet specific commitments that are required.
1. Proof of age and eligibility
I will produce an original government issued birth certificate or any other documentation required to verify the birth date of my child.

2. Tournament dates and locations
The 2011 All-Star Tournament Schedule is currently being developed; however it is expected to run from May 10th to the end of June. The District Tournament is June 26-28 scheduled to be held in Downey. Qualified teams continue to State and Nationals that run Through August.
The District teams (All-Star Gold) will play in the District Tournament, with qualifying District teams continuing to play until they are eliminated or win the National Title. This could continue as late as August.

3. Player Availability
To commit to the All-Star team, a player must be available for all practices and games. Practices will begin after May 1. All players are responsible for attending all practices, games, and events unless excused prior. Games and practices will continue on throughout the All-Star
Tournament(s) until the team is eliminated. If there are more than (2) unexcused absences from a game or practice, the player may be removed from the team. An excused absence would be an illness, medical or family emergency. All other absences are unexcused unless approved by the All-Star Staff.

4. Mandatory playing rules
All Stars is a competitive environment and all field position assignments are at the sole discretion of each teams coaching staff so your daughter may be asked to play a position that she has not played in the past as a necessity to field a competitive team.
A. There ARE NO MINIMUM playing requirements during the All-Star Season.
1. Pre-District tournaments: coaches will make every attempt to get all girls playing time and bat round robin unless the tournament precludes that option, but they will field a competitive team.
2. District, State, and Nationals: Girls could possibly sub the entire game, be called upon to play defensive positions only (not bat), be a designated hitter (not play defense), or be pinch runner

only. This will also be at the discretion of the teams’ staff as there are no minimum playing requirements.

5. Parent or Guardian Responsibility
The All-Star tournament is a separate opportunity for players to continue playing softball after the regular Softball season is completed. Long Beach Heartwell Fastpitch Softball does not sponsor all the costs of the All-Star Teams. Parents and players are responsible for most expenses incurred by the team, which may include parts of uniforms, travel, tournament entry fees, umpire fees, banners, etc. All Parents are required to submit a $125.00 commitment fee if their daughter is selected.
Various fundraising opportunities are being proposed and will be conducted by the individual teams. All participants will help work and/or participate in these fundraisers. All money raised from the fundraisers will be used solely for the team. Parents are responsible for any additional team costs that are not covered by the fundraising efforts. If enough money is raised, parents will be refunded any excess, up to their original $125.00 commitment fee.
Parents and players may not always agree with the decisions made by the All-Star staff, but need to support the team in all ways they can rather then attempt to cause dissension within the team.
Coaches for the All-Star Teams Will be selected prior to the All Star draft but not prior to April
24, 2015 . You and Your daughter must be willing to play for any of the currently rostered coaches.

Any Recreation League All-Star participant can not have participated in any type of activity with any travel ball team after March 31, 2015.
