Dear Jersey Breeders:
It’s time for nominations to the 58th National Heifer Sale!
The American Jersey Cattle Association and National All-Jersey Inc. annual meetings will be
held June 25 through June 28 in East Peoria, Illinois. The National Heifer Sale will be Friday,
June 26 at the Embassy Suites Hotel & Riverfront Conference Center, East Peoria, IL at 7:00PM (CDT). This year will mark the third year in National Heifer Sale history where all heifers
will be sold virtually, with videos and live broadcast on Jersey Auction Live.
As manager of the sale, we invite you to participate in this prestigious event. The deadline for
nominations to the National Heifer Sale (in the JMS office) is May 1, 2015. The deadline to
submit genotyping materials to the lab is before April 1 to have information back by May 1
for the catalog.
We encourage you to take this opportunity to help market your consignments. The Jersey
Journal deadline for advertising is April 16 with an early bird discount (10%) deadline of
April 4.
All heifers in the sale will be genotyped and parentage verified at the cost of the American Jersey
Cattle Association. Up to three nominations may be submitted for genotyping with the AJCA
supplementing the cost of genotyping on those individuals, as long as one heifer is selected for
the sale. All heifers will be gathered in a central location (to be determined at a later date)
prior to the sale so that the heifers can be delivered to their new owners as soon as possible
after the sale.
Nominations for the sale must be un-calved heifers, A.I. sired and out of dams scored at least
Very Good-80%. Heifers with a P-Level of 7 or higher will be given highest priority. The
National Heifer Sale has a rich history of being a showcase for the breeds truly elite. We will be
accepting First Choice Female lots again this year. The commission for the National Heifer
Sale is 25% with a 10% donation to the Youth Fund.
If you would like to nominate a heifer for the sale, please contact your Area Representative,
Sally Stine at JMS (614-322-4473) or Erica Davis, JMS, at 614-361-9716. We will need
registration numbers, breeding information, service sire, updated production records (dams &
grandams), and any professional pictures and show winnings. Please include your current cell
phone number and email address. We also need to have printed verification if your consignment is a
Donor Dam (IVF, conventional flush, etc.). This information will need to be reported in the catalog!
