Learn what you can do in your own homes to curb energy use and eliminate/limit toxins, and how you can take steps to alter your living space with an eco-minded eye. Ms. Martin will guide us through the Medow home, detailing their particular eco-minded renovation and suggesting both minor and major changes we can implement within our own homes. At the Medow home, Ms. Martin will review the many green aspects of her renovation including their high performance building envelope, renewable energy choices, water purification system and their choice in green building materials. Judith Martin’s Green Home Consulting, LLC, based in Rye, NY, is a building consulting firm specializing in sustainable home-building, green remodeling, energy efficiency and toxin remediation. Under Ms. Martin’s guidance, Green Home Consulting coordinates the green aspects of renovation and construction to help it’s clients achieve a more energy efficient and healthier, less toxic home created with the utmost in comfort and style. Ms. Martin regularly works with clients with allergies and other chemical sensitivities. Her expertise includes consulting on and managing everything from gut-home renovations and new construction projects to offering “shades of green” plans which will increase your home’s energy efficiency and decrease your family’s exposure to home and building-related toxins. Ms. Martin graduated summa cum laude from Boston University and earned her MBA at Columbia Business School. Following a successful career in finance which included 12 years as a senior investment banker with Goldman Sachs & Co. concentrating on energy companies and financial institutions, she became increasingly interested in sustainable building. Focusing upon the impact of development and the environment, Ms. Martin honed her expertise through extensive industry-accredited workshops, professional affiliations, significant research and green home building educational seminars and conferences. Currently, Ms. Martin served as a member of the Board of the New York League of Conservation Voters, is an Associate Member of the Westchester Global Warming Task Force, and currently is a member of The Environmental Advocacy Group of Rye, the US Green Building Council and the Northeast Solar Energy Association (NESEA). She is also involved in the Mt. Sinai Children’s Environmental Health Center where she is an active member of their “Greening Our Children” annual fundraiser. Ms. Martin is a past RCDS parent.
