Application to Clinical Practice
As health care providers in a constantly changing arena, the safe utilization and management
of high risk medications such as anticoagulants remains a priority for receiving information and
updates related to clinical practice and patient care. This session will focus on the assessment of
the patient receiving an Anticoagulant, highlight the indications/ contraindications/ dosage
regimens/ administration guidelines for new novel oral anticoagulants, and discuss specific
approaches to incorporating these agents into your practice. The participant will be able to
identify key characteristics of each new agent, and strengthen their clinical decision-making
abilities in providing safe care for their patients receiving anticoagulant drug therapies.
