Job Description Job title: Lab Technician in Tissue Engineering Department: Departments of Materials and Bioengineering Job Family: Technical Job Family, Level 2a Reporting to: Professor Molly Stevens Liaison with: Academic and Research Staff and Postgraduate Students Key Working Relationships Liaise with research staff and PhD students Campus location: South Kensington Length of Appointment: Up to one year in the first instance with possibility of an extension Summary of the post: Lab Technician in cell biology, analytical and biochemistry and material science Summary of the post: The Lab Technician will be assisting with the oversight of the preparation, storage, and inventory control of laboratory equipment and supplies. Other duties will include assisting with repairs and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment and assisting with the day-to-day problems relating to equipment failure and arranging for on or off site repairs. The Lab Technician will also assist with the daily lab organisation in terms of lab cleaning, assisting with the laboratory inductions for new people, placing purchase orders on ICIS, preparing sample aliquots and other reagents with the training provided, and processing the lab inventory. Training will be given to have knowledge of health and safety regulations as he/she will be assisting with the Risk Assessments and liaising with the H&S officers. Person Specification The post-holder should possess excellent technical and organisational skills, the ability to work within a team, enjoy teaching new people and already have previous laboratory management experience in a multidisciplinary group.
