Method of Instruction:
Each week there will be an assigned reading from the texts which will coincide with class lectures.
Lectures will be provided to cover the main points in each section. Also each week there will be
an assignment due to demonstrate the student’s goals for practice.
Goal Sheet Assignment:
Each week the student will write 3-5 goals to achieve at practice that week. These goals should
be realistic and helpful to the skill progress of the student. Every Tuesday that class meets, the goal
sheet assignment will be due. The goals can be type written, kept in a notebook or in someway
that I can easily view it.
Practice Log:
Since there is conflicting times with practice, I decided to have each student keep a log of their 3
hour practice for the week. This log needs to be detailed and should explain the goals that were
to be reached that day. Practice can consist of roping the dummy, riding your horse, practicing
on live animals, helping with practice or searching for sponsors and etc. I will be available to help
with practice. This will further be discussed in class.
Presentation:
This will be a presentation to the class on “Future of the Big Horn Rodeo Club.” A paper will
handed out during the semester to detail what is expected in the presentation.
Requirements:
Students are required to hold a current NIRA membership card
Attendance is required for this class. If you have to miss a lecture, please let me know before it
starts. We will make plans for rodeos during class so missing it would be crucial.
Students shall provide their own horse and/or equipment for practice.
Students will keep a practice log totaling at least 3 lab hours per week. Open practice will be
offered on Thursday nights. Time and location TBA.
