MADISON – Alicia Kozakiewicz inspired “Alicia’s Law,” which helps Internet Crimes

Against Children Task Forces continue their work. Today, before both the Wisconsin State

Assembly and Senate, she inspired everyone who heard her testimony.

Alicia was abducted by an Internet predator, held hostage and tortured in his Virginia basement at the age of 13. She was rescued because of the work of an ICAC Task Force. Attorney

General Brad Schimel thanked her for her bravery in speaking out to help others.

“We in law enforcement have no more important mission than to keep our children safe; safe from drug abuse, safe from abuse in their own home and safe from internet predators,” said

Attorney General Schimel. “In 26 years as a prosecutor, and now as the Attorney General, I have seen success from the work of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. But I also have seen tragic outcomes from incidents involving those who prey on children through the internet. The funding assistance provided by Alicia’s Law will help ensure that this valuable task force can continue their work with the resources they need to catch these predators.”

SB 546, along with companion AB 666 will help make sure Wisconsin law enforcement has the resources to keep up with the technology being used by predators to track and catch them quickly.
