Your Rock Story Directions: You will choose a specific rock from the type of rock you began and ended as in the rock cycle lab (list is on the back). Your challenge is to be the rock. As a rock, you will tell your story to the world. Write a short story children’s book (five paragraphs- told in first person point-of-view) about the life of you as a rock. You may use your journey from yesterday to help you get started. The story must include the following: Paragraph #1: Introduction- includes your rock name (made up by you) and some interesting information about you as a rock (for example: Where do you live? How old are you?) Paragraph #2: Discuss your original rock type- Igneous, Sedimentary, or Metamorphic (describe what it means) and also include a VERY detailed description of you as a rock, including your texture, and composition. Paragraph #3: The development of your rock- how it became igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic (must include specific terms and processes learned in class) Paragraph #4: The rock changing from its original form to the type of rock you were at the end of your journey (must include specific terms and processes learned in class) Paragraph #5: Conclusion- bring an end to the story and discuss some of your uses as a rock. You must have a cover page with illustration for your book, and each paragraph page will also include an ILLUSTRATION. All illustrations must be colored. Look below to see the page set-up: (Illustration on top) (Paragraph on bottom half of page) = As the magma flowed out of the volcano and made its lava transformation, I noticed that the temperatures began to change. All of this will be combined to make an interesting and fun journey/adventure through the life of a rock. These stories will be read to the class! Good luck! Expectation #1: All writing must go into the book we make in class., five paragraphs, and five illustrations. Expectation #2: Your book must include a cover page with a colored illustration and the author’s name (your human name). Expectation #3: There must be five pages each with a colored illustration on top and a paragraph on the bottom. Expectation #4: The story must include the paragraph details listed above. Expectation #5: I EXPECT ALL STUDENTS TO FINISH THIS ASSIGNMENT AND TURN IT IN ON TIME!
