AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC BOARD OF RADIOLOGY
OCC PRACTICE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT & IMPROVEMENT (PPA) PROJECT
INITIAL TOPIC INFORMATION
OCC requires AOBR certified physicians to complete three (3) PPA projects within a full 10-year OCC cycle.
Important information regarding OCC PPA requirements can be found at www.aobr.org. The PPA submission process
is outlined below:
Step 1: Complete and submit your initial project topic information for Board review and approval.
NOTE: Physicians must receive Board approval of their initial topic submission prior to submitting their full
project data. Physicians will be notified via email by AOBR staff indicating approval/denial along with any
necessary comments from the Board.
Step 2: Upon receiving approval, physicians will be directed to the online submission portal “OCAT” for complete data
submission. Access to this portal is complimentary to AOBR diplomates using the voucher code “AOBR.”
NOTE: All project data must be submitted using the online submission portal. Please do not email project
data.
Step 3: Physicians must input their Baseline project data into the OCAT portal. If the referenced benchmark is met
within the baseline cycle, the physician may consider the project complete and will not be required to move on
to the post-improvement cycle.
Step 4: Physicians who have not met their referenced benchmark for the baseline cycle will be required to complete the
post-improvement cycle. The goal is to improve upon the initial data collection after implementation of an
improvement plan in daily practice. After completion of the post-improvement cycle form, the physician may
consider the project requirement complete, even if the benchmark is not met.
Important PPA Information:
 The Board requires submission of a minimum of three (3) different projects within a full 10-year OCC cycle.
 Project data must be current data (i.e. data cannot be gathered retrospectively and submitted)
 Some projects may not have a nationally published benchmark available; therefore, physicians may submit the
standard set within their group or hospital.
Please take a moment to describe the project that you will be submitting in order to fulfill the requirement of OCC
Component 4 – Practice Performance Assessment & Improvement. Physicians will be notified of project status within
three (3) weeks of submission.
Please indicate which of the following approved categories your project will cover:
