To the Parents/Guardians of students attending Columbia Ridge Elementary School,
As a result of the federal No Child Left Behind act, your child may be eligible to receive academic tutoring to help him or her do
better in school using Supplemental Educational Services (SES). Columbia Ridge Elementary School students who receive free
or reduced lunch are eligible to apply for these services.
This extra help is provided to your child in reading, and/or math. The extra help can be provided before or after school, on
weekends, or during school vacation times, depending on the provider. Some providers offer their services online, while
others are offered at a location. Many provide all of the materials your child will need to access their services. This is at no
cost to you. Transportation is the parent’s responsibility and will not be provided by the school.
SES providers are approved by the Title I department at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Parents decide who
they want to work with their children. A list of providers is attached, and a brief description of the help your child may receive
is available at the Columbia Ridge Elementary School office or on the following website:
http://www.k12.wa.us/TitleI/SES.aspx
Please contact Sharon Scellick, Ephrata School District Curriculum and Federal Programs Coordinator, at 754-3060 ext.2306 or
sscellck@ephrataschools.org if you would like assistance in finding out more about the SES provider services.
If you are interested in receiving services, fill out the enclosed application and return it to Columbia Ridge Elementary School.
We will work with you to set a date to start services for your child and to set up a service schedule. The district will then enter
into a contract with the provider on your child’s behalf. Services are paid for your child by Title I dollars set aside by the
district.
The SES Enrollment Windows for the Ephrata School District School District is:
October 1 - 15
November 11– 25
NOTE:
Enrollment applications for SES tutoring will only be accepted during these two windows.
Columbia Ridge Elementary School and the Ephrata School District are committed to helping each child succeed. Our District
Improvement Plan is described within the eight District Initiatives found at www.ephrataschools.org. Collaborative
relationships with parents contribute to increased student achievement. If you wish to become involved in district or school
improvement efforts please contact Scott Monson, Columbia Ridge Principal or Charlotte Throgmorton, Title I Director.
Thank you for your involvement in your child’s education. We look forward to working with you.
Sincerely,
Sharon Scellick, Curriculum and Federal Programs Coordinator
