1. Goals and Objectives
“The Creators and Curators” International Folklore Festival-Competition is aimed at:
1) Exchanging the experience in developing traditional and contemporary culture among representatives of
countries and institutions, teachers and specialists
2) Establishing artistic and business contacts among artistic ensembles, children’s, youth and adult
organizations, state and public institutions from Russia’s regions and foreign countries
3) Promoting the folklore, retaining and enriching national cultural values
4) Revitalizing, guarding and developing national cultures and strengthening cultural co-operation
5) Getting familiar with best samples of national culture and arts of Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent
States (CIS) and foreign countries
6) Providing favourable conditions for the support and development of artistic communication
7) Involving in co-operation with artistic companies the leading specialists in culture and prominent men of arts
8) Raising the professional level of artistic collectives and individual performers.
Additional Information


The participants are to cover travel and accommodation costs at their own expense. The Organizing
Committee undertakes to provide placement, accommodation, catering and sightseeing programmes agreed
upon and confirmed by the participants;
A delegation may include accompanying persons in any number.

5. Nominations and Performance Time
Solo
Trio: juveniles, juniors, youth, adults, seniors from 1:30 min. to 5 min.
Family Group (over 3 people, no age limit) of relatives from 1:30 min. to 7 min.
Small Groups (4-7 people): juveniles, juniors, youth, adults, seniors from 1:30 min. to 5 min.
Mini-Production (3-12 people): mixed age, no age limit from 2 min. to 8 min.
Formation (8-24 people): juveniles, juniors, youth, adults, seniors from 2 min. to 8 min.
Mixed Formation (13-24 people): mixed age, no age limit from 2 min. to 8 min.
Production (over 25 people): mixed age, no age limit from 2 min. to 8 min.
Contest of Folklore Productions (from 5 to 40 people) from 3 min. to 15 min.

Juveniles - year of birth 2006 and younger
Juniors – 2001 and younger
Youth – 1997-2000 and younger
Adults – 1978-1996 and younger
Seniors – 1963-1977
Grand seniors – 1962 and older
7. Disciplines
Vocal
Aged 5-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-15 years, 16 – 18 years, 19 and older, mixed groups.
Solos, duets, trios, quartets etc.
Evaluation Criteria: musical perfection, artistic interpretation of a piece of music, intonation precision and quality of
sound, beauty of timbre and power of voice, scenic culture, complexity of repertoire, correspondence of repertoire to a
performer’s vocal abilities and age group, performance expertise.
- in folk singing direction – 2 works - a’capella + optional (no repeat, please )
- in academic singing direction – 2 works of a different character (no repeat, please)
Note:
Theatrical practices are welcome.
Back-vocal in the form of a harmony backup is permissible, as an earlier produced “minus one” sound record or
performed live; a group has no right to use recorded back-vocals. Also, double-track (a second voice to accompany a
soloist’s part) is not permitted. Competitive performances are to take place with the use of “minus” sound record, live
or without an accompaniment (ensemble, grand piano etc.). The use of sound records of back-vocal parts is permitted,
provided that those add to the performance and do not substitute vocal abilities.
To be evaluated: ability to use the registers, breathing technique, diction, artistic ability, complexity of a work,
competence in using a microphone.
Financial Terms:
Adults, juniors - solo 1 400 Rubles (RUR), duets 700 RUR per person, trio etc. – 3 000 RUR.
Juveniles - solo 900 RUR per person, duets 500 RUR per person.
Children’s ensembles – 2 000 RUR.
Musical Instrument
5-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-15 years, 16 – 18 years, 19 and older, a mixed group
Solos, duets, trios, quartets etc.

correspondence of repertoire to a performer’s abilities and age group, performance expertise.
- grand piano – 2 works – a large-scale piece or polyphony + cantilena
- violin – a piece of your choice + virtuoso piece
- button accordion – 2 works – folk melodies interpretations + virtuoso piece
- balalaika / domra – 2 works – arrangement of a work by a Russian or foreign composer + interpretation of a folk
tune or a tradition-based piece
- guitar – 2 works – virtuoso piece + a piece of folk music
- brass instruments – 2 works – a large-scale piece + a piece of your choice
- ensembles – 2 works of different character (no repeat, please)
Financial Terms:

Choral Singing

Financial Terms: Choir – 3 000 RUR.
Declamation
(Prose, poetry, tale, literature-and-music composition)
Solo, ensemble (divided into duet, trio, quartet etc.)
5-8 years, 9-11 years, 12-15 years, 16 – 18 years, 19 and older, mixed group
Evaluation Criteria: completeness and expression in exposing the subject of a literary work, theatrical effects (plastics,
costume, scenic culture), brightness in portraying artistic images and characters, performance level, actors’ diction, stage
design, props, correspondence of repertoire to a performer’s vocal abilities and age group.
Financial Terms:
Adults, juniors - solo 1 400 RUR, duets 700 PUR per person, trio etc. – 3 000 RUR per person
Juveniles - solo 900 RUR per person, duets 500 RUR per person.
Children’s ensembles – 2 000 RUR.
Media
CD. One tune per disk. Please, make sure you keep a record’s copy! RWs and MP3s are not accepted.
The rights to video and photo production are reserved.
DANCES

 Folklore production (circle dance etc.). Folk music instrumental or live vocal accompaniment is permitted.

8. Financial Terms
All expenditures on organization are covered by charity start-up fees.
The fee for one member of an ensemble per discipline – 700 RUR; a second dance in a particular discipline – 50 percent
discount per person.
The fee for the second and successive disciplines – 500 RUR per person; a second dance in particular discipline - 50
percent discount per person.
Payment can be made at the registration on the day of the Competition or earlier on by cashless transfer. A copy of the
receipt is to be sent to the Organizers.
The rights to video and photo production are reserved.
The Organizing Committee can permit the filming of the event on a paid-for basis – 300 RUR per day.
Entrance fee for spectators – 300 RUR per day.

Attention: in case the performance is protracted beyond the time-limits, it may be interrupted by the Competition’s
Organizing Committee (accompaniment shall be muted).

The Organizing Committee undertakes to arrange for placement, accommodation and transfers, if an application is

A participant must have insurance. Services will be provided on spot or insurance policies will be made available for
