DV21-KingArthur 1. King Uthur's death - King Uthur Pendragon, who united all of England, died without leaving a known male hair to his throne. But with the help of Merlin, Uthur conceived a son in secret with Lady Igraine. 2. The sword in the stone – Merlin enchanted a sword in the stone so that only a true successor to Uthur could pull it out. Many noble knights tried to pull the sword out of the stone but failed. Only young Arthur was able to easily free the sword from the stone. 3. Merlin – Both Uther and Arthur took on the magician Merlin as their advisor. No harm could be done to either one of them as long as Merlin and his magic were at their side. 4-5. Jousting Match – To celebrate Arthur’s ascension at the rightful king of England, jousting tournaments were held throughout the land. 6. Camelot – Arthur holds court in the magnificent castle called Camelot. It becomes the center of his empire. It host to lots of tournaments and becomes a beacon to the most noble of knights. 7. Wedding to Guinevere – Arthur married Guinevere, daughter of King Leodegrance, in a beautiful ceremony in Camelot. King Leodegrance gave Arthur a large round table as a wedding present. 8-9. Knights of the Round Table – Arthur gathered his best and most loyal knights around the Round Table and they all swore to fight at Arthur’s side. 10. Excalibur – Merlin took Arthur to a lake where a woman’s hand held the magical sword Excalibur in the middle of the lake. The Lady of the Lake presented Excalibur's scabbard to Arthur, and implored him to always keep the sword and scabbard together. 11. Morgan le Fay steals the scabbard – Arthur’s jealous half-sister, Morgan le Fay, plotted to steal Excalibur. Also skilled in magic, she appeared in Arthur’s bedchamber, but was only able to steal Excalibur’s scabbard. 12. Arthur chases after Morgan le Fay – After realizing that Morgan le Fay stole the scabbard, Arthur chases after her. Using her magic, Morgan turns herself and her knights into stone and tricks Arthur. 13. Morgan sends the cursed cape – Morgan le Fay sends Arthur a beautiful cape to make amends for stealing the scabbard. Sensing another treacherous trick, Merlin asks the messenger to put the cape on herself. The cape was cursed and engulfed the messenger in flames. 14. Merlin’s Death – Merlin fell in love with Nimue, one of the Ladies of the Lake and decided to leave Camelot with her. But, as he predicted to Arthur before leaving, Nimue tricked Merlin to burry himself in a cave under a big boulder. 15. Lancelot & Guinevere – Guinevere fell in love with Lancelot du Lac, the greatest knight in Arthur’s court. Lancelot also loved Guinevere, but set out on many adventures outside Camelot to keep his mind off Guinevere. 16-17 Lancelot vs. Dragon – In one of his most famous adventures, Lancelot fights a fire-breathing dragon that has been terrorizing the castle of the Fisher King, and saves his daughter Elaine who is held captive by the dragon. 18. Lancelot and Elaine – Elaine falls in love with Lancelot but he is too in love with Guinevere to love her back. Elaine enlists Morgan le Fey to trick Lancelot into thing she is Guinevere. She gives birth to their son Galahad. 19. Gawain vs. Green Knight – Back in Camelot, a giant knight dressed in green armor appears and challenges the Knights of the Round Table to a duel. Gawain takes on the challenge, swinging the Green Knight’s massive axe and cutting his head off. The Green Knight doesn’t die, but challenges Gawain to fight him back at his castle. 20. Galahad takes the Perilous Seat – Lancelot’s son Galahad, now grown up, comes to Camelot and claims the Perilous Seat, an empty chair at the Round Table. Only the noblest of knights can claim the Perilous Seat, and Galahad passes the test. 21. Holy Grail appears – The Holy Grail appears in a vision to the Knights of the Round Table. The knights each set out on quests to find the Holy Grail, but only Galahad is successful. 22. Procession with the Holy Grail – Galahad finds the Holy Grail in the castle of the Fisher King. There a procession of beautiful maidens greets Galahad with the Grail and a spear that bleeds but the drops disappear before hitting the ground. 23. Guinevere to be burned at Steak – Arthur’s son Mordred reveals the love affair between Lancelot and Guinevere and Arthur, reluctantly, sentences Guinevere to be burned at the steak. Lancelot fights for her honor and frees her from her sentence. 24. Lancelot vs. Gawain – In the process of freeing Guinevere, Lancelot kills Gawain’s sons, Gareth and Gaheris, and makes an enemy out of Gawain. Gawain attacks Lancelot at his castle but is unsuccessful in killing him. 25. Lady of the Lake Warns Arthur – While Arthur is sieges Lancelot’s castle with Gawain, Arthur’s son Mordred takes Camelot by force and declares himself king. The Lady of the Lake warns Arthur not to fight Mordred at Camlann. 26-27. The Battle of Camlann – Not heeding the Lady of the Lake’s warning, Arthur faces Mordred in a Final Battle for control of England. 28. Arthur/Mordred fatally wounded – In their brutal battle Arthur kills Mordred, but is fatally wounded himself. 29. Excalibur thrown back to the lake – Arthur orders Sir Bedivere to throw Excalibur back into the lake. He promised the Lady of the Lake that he would return the sword after his death. 30. Arthur on boat to Avalon – After his death, Arthur is taken to the mystical island of Avalon by the three Ladies of the Lake. He is laid to rest there until he is to return and reunite England again.
