About the GSEM Teen Leadership Committee, Grades 9-12 The GSEM Teen Leadership Committee gives girls in grades 9-12 the chance to be the voice for girls in our council. Girls who join work with its members to provide ideas and guidance to the CEO and council staff. This Committee also supports the planning of the Lead Your Way: Leadership Conference and an advocacy program. Girls meet all together monthly to plan, discuss and give advice on upcoming council initiatives. This is a great opportunity for any girl who is looking to build on her leadership skills and be more active at Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts! Am I eligible to apply? If you are a registered girl member of Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts you are eligible to apply! Please complete the full application (pages 2-3) and submit it by 5 PM on October 30, 2015. The GSEM Teen Leadership Committee exists to make sure that girl members’ voices are heard! Members discuss everything about Girl Scouting: from recruitment tactics to the types of programs that keep girls in scouting. The committee has three subcommittees who meet on conference calls every few months; the retention subcommittee, communications subcommittee and advocacy subcommittee. Each member is expected to be a part of at least one subcommittee. Members with more committee experience can become the subcommittee leaders who organize meetings and agendas for her subcommittee. Girls will have the opportunity to mentor the Girl Leadership Committee during meetings. Members are also given special invitations and opportunities to some of our council’s premier events. We will try our best to hold firm with these dates to allow for planning. However, we may need to reschedule, in which case we will provide members with as much notice as possible.
