Just ask at reception and you will be given a form with your own unique access PIN. Once you have registered you can re-order your prescriptions from that day forward. But please remember to allow 24 hours before collection. That you can also book your GP and Nurse Appointment’s online. Just visit our website and following the instructions on the screen. Blaydon GP Led Practice is closed during all bank holidays but you can still book an appointment or order a prescription on-line. You can request a telephone appointment to speak to a GP Monday – Friday between the times 1.00pm – 1.45pm or 5.30pm – 5.45pm. Blaydon’s Stopping Smoking Did you Know: That we offer stop smoking cessations with our Practice Nurse and Practice Health Care Assistant. Here at Blaydon we know how hard it can be to give up smoking completely but we are here to help to quit once and for all. Ask at reception for further details. Are you using the Right NHS Service? Did you know: That it costs your surgery £52 every time you use a Walk-inCentre, therefore using the right service is essential. You should try and get a same day or next day appointment before using the walk in centre. You should see your GP for minor illnesses and injuries such as: o Sore Throats o Earache o Urinary Symptoms o Rash o Cough/Colds Symptoms o Skin Infections/Eye Infections o Stomach Pains o Minor Cuts and Grazes o Headaches Blaydon Minor Illnesses and Injuries Unit can deal with: o Emergency Contraception (only if you cannot get a same day GP appointment) o Head Injuries o Minor cuts, grazes and bumps o Burns and Scolds o Broken Limbs (arms, legs, fingers and toes) o Headaches o High Temperature If you have any of the following conditions please attend A&E or dial 999: o Chest Pains o Major Bleeding or Bleeding in pregnancy o Severe Shortness of Breath o Choking o Fitting o Loss of Consciousness Blaydon’s Patient Participation Forum Did you Know: That you can join our new Patient Participation Forum where you can help improve our services. Your Practice Needs You! Blaydon’s GP Waiting Area Did you know: Germs can spread very easily and quickly through children’s toys. A number of patients have asked for a toy area in the GP waiting area but due to infection control we are not able to offer the use of toys to children. You are, however, more than welcome to bring a toy with you for your child to play with while you are waiting to be seen. There have been 98 missed appointments between April and August 2012 That is 24 hours and 30 minutes of wasted time that could have gone to other patients who needed to be seen. If you feel that you cannot attend your booked appointment, please contact reception to cancel your appointment. This will give other patients a chance of the appointment.
