The following table details tuition costs as charged per contact hour for the 2013/14 academic year. The
Medical Assistant Program totals 50/54 contact hours without including additional prerequisite courses
required by ACT or Accuplacer placement scores or prerequisites to enter the core courses of the
program.

Fees are the same for all students. The following table details fees according to contact hours and
estimated specific course fees. Distance learning fees have been calculated @ two (2) courses and will
vary depending on each student’s preference. It is important to note that the Medical Assistant
Program may be completed without any Distance Learning courses.

The following table details additional expenses associated with items necessary to complete the
required courses and clinical assignments. The required immunizations are based on pricing at an area
Community Health Agency and an area “walk-in” clinic. Clothing and other item amounts were
calculated at pricing obtained from the Glen Oaks Bookstore. As noted, the American Heart Association
CPR certification can normally be completed for free.

The required drug screen, criminal background check and CMA exam fees are included in the cost of the
tuition and fees.

prerequisites or additional courses needed prior to courses listed on the Medical Assistant Curriculum
Guide. Costs may also vary depending on vendors and services selected by students.

The following example details the estimated costs for 50 contact hours @ in-district tuition, fees and
books for six (6) full time semesters. Included in equipment are two (2) sets of uniforms with one (1) lab
coat, and one pair of shoes @ $50. Remember, these are estimated costs; pricing will vary depending
on vendors and requirements such as the number of prerequisite courses that must be completed.
