INSIGHT SCHOOL OF WASHINGTON
Class of 2013 Commencement Ceremony
Saturday, June 15th, 2013 at 1:00 PM
All Seniors graduating in June 2013 and those who met graduation requirements in January 2013 are
encouraged to attend and be a part of our graduation event. The entire student body along with faculty,
friends and family are also invited to join us. There is no fee to attend.

Seating
Seating at the Commencement Ceremony is on a first come, first serve basis. Bellevue College Gymnasium can
accommodate up to 3,000 students and their guests. ADA Seating is available.
Timeline
9:30AM: Student Drop-Off
10:00AM: Individual Senior Portraits (optional)
10:30AM: Rehearsal for Commencement Ceremony
ALL graduates planning to walk must arrive no later than 10:00 a.m.
12:00PM: Doors Open
12:15PM: Final Ceremony Line-Up
1:00PM: Commencement Begins
4:00PM: National Honors Society Ceremony
Graduates who are being inducted into the National Honors Society walk to Student Union Building, Room
C130B for a special ceremony.
7:00PM – 10:30PM: Prom
Prom will be in the Student Union Building. There is a room for parents who would like to stay and prefer a
quieter space (C120A). Prom information is posted on our website: http://iswa.k12start.com/.
Code of Conduct
Appropriate behavior is expected before, during and after the 2013 Commencement Ceremony. Those
individuals who do not adhere to our code of conduct will be asked to leave the event.
Address Cards
Students will be asked to fill out an address change card, which will be provided at check-in. In order to ensure
proper delivery of diplomas, Graduates are responsible for neatly printing their name and full address on the
address cards.
Not Attending?
Whether or not you plan on attending the 2013 Commencement Ceremony, diplomas will be mailed to the
current home address on file in August 2013. To update your address, please email the Registrar at
registrar@k12insightwa.org.
Graduation Requirements




Senior Project: Presentations will be made in May 2013. All Seniors expecting to graduate this year
MUST complete and present their Senior Project if they plan on walking during the Commencement
Ceremony. Your Counselor can answer questions.
High School Proficiency Exams (HSPE): All expectant graduates must have taken the Washington State
High School Proficiency Exam in Reading and Writing. A passing score is required on both tests to
receive a diploma in the state of Washington. Talk with your counselor about possible alternatives to
meeting this requirement if you have not passed HSPE Reading or Writing.
End-of-Course Exams (EOC): A passing score is required on EOC Math or Algebra is required to receive
a diploma in the state of Washington. Talk to your counselor about possible alternatives to meeting
this requirement if you have not passed at least one of these exams.
CREDITS: Washington State requires that all graduating Seniors complete 21 credits prior to receiving
their diploma. Those students who have not earned the required 21 credits by graduation will not
receive diplomas.
Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to all 2013 Graduates in AUGUST 2013. Graduates will receive only a diploma cover
during the Commencement Ceremony.
Report Cards and Transcripts
Final Report Cards and Transcripts will be mailed to students at the address we have on file. Please update
your address immediately if you have moved! To update your address, please email the Registrar at
registrar@k12insightwa.org.
Graduation Attire
Graduates are encouraged to wear the official cap and gown for the 2013 Commencement Ceremony. All
Graduates, regardless of whether they are wearing ISWA caps and gowns, are expected to dress appropriately
for the event.
Cap and Gown Order Information
Insight School of Washington graduation caps and gowns may be ordered directly through Jostens.
Additional items like diploma frames and announcements can also be ordered on the same site. To place
your order for a cap and gown you can go to: www.grad-auto.com. Please email
mortonoffice@jostens.com or call (253) 210-0575 with questions.
Please note that when you place your order online, you’ll see a message saying your order will ship directly to
the school. This is not the case with ISWA as we are not a brick-and-mortar school, and Jostens will ship your
order directly to the address you provide.
The deadline to order graduation supplies is May 31, 2013.
Senior Portraits
Graduates will have the opportunity to have their portrait taken before and after the Commencement
Ceremony. Senior portraits are optional.
Pricing: Azzura Photography will provide pricing information for those students interested in professional
Senior Portraits. A pricing and order sheet is posted on http://iswa.k12start.com/, and pre-orders are
recommended.

Senior Portraits. All orders must be placed directly with the photographer.
Senior Slideshow
Insight School of Washington will feature a Senior Slideshow during the 2013 Commencement Ceremony.
Graduates who would like to have their photo included in the presentation must send their photos before
May 24th!
To submit your photos, please send the pictures to dedwards@k12insightwa.org with the subject titled YOUR
NAME _ Graduation Pictures. Please email these pictures by the 24th of May in order to get everyone in. If
you have any questions, please feel free to call Mr. Edwards at (253) 569-6806.
Yearbooks
Students can bring the signature pages of their 2012-2013 yearbook to graduation and prom! We will have a
very limited number of copies available for purchase at graduation, as the deadline to order has passed.
