This will be a time for the children to reflect upon their learning and achievements from the term and share it with their family. This term we have been exploring, and will continue to explore, Nursery Rhymes as part of our learning. We have read them during our Shared Reading time, responded to them in our writing, acted them out and explored them during art and craft. As part of our Nursery Rhyme Day you will have the opportunity to come into the classroom with your child to look at their books and for them to explain to you what happens in our learning space. Document1 COSTUMES Students are asked to come dressed as a nursery rhyme character. You can use everyday items to creatively dress up your child. We are NOT expecting parents to hire, purchase or go to great lengths for your child’s costume. It is completely up to you. (Perhaps you know a student in grade 1, 2 or 3 that has a great Nursery Rhyme costume they used previously.) Students can wear their costume to school, however, we understand that some costumes may be difficult to wear all day. If this is the case students wear their school uniform to school and you will need to come and dress your child in the costume by 12.40pm, as this will allow us enough time to have their photo taken. (If you can not attend on the day arrangements can be made, however, we are not able to dress 50 children in costumes.) The Nursery Rhymes we have learnt or will be learning in class are: Incy Wincy Spider Baa Baa Black Sheep Humpty Dumpty Grand Old Duke of York Hickory Dickory Dock Mary Mary Quite Contrary Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Little Miss Muffet Hey Diddle Diddle Three Blind Mice Little Miss Muffet Queen of Hearts Jack and Jill The children do not have to choose a Nursery Rhyme we have read in class. Closer to the date we will be placing a list outside the classroom so you can write down which character your child is dressing up as. (This is so we can introduce the characters in the parade. It does not matter if children double, triple or quadruple up on characters!) We hope this gives you some time to start contemplating costumes with your child. If you have any questions please speak to a teacher or send in a note. Please note the first half of the day will be a normal school day with our usual learning routine. Thank you for your continued support. Mrs Kuipers and Mrs Kakoschke Document1
