JACKSON, OUR BULL ELEPHANT, IS A DAD AGAIN!
(Hogle Zoo’s new calf is Jackson’s eighth calf)
(Pittsburgh) (August 14, 2006)—The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is trumpeting the news: Jackson, our bull
elephant, is a dad again for the 8th time. Jackson’s most recent offspring is a 251-pound female calf born at the
Hogle Zoo in Utah on Monday according to Zoo officials. Hogle Zoo officials report that Mom Christie and the
baby are doing very well. (https://www.hoglezoo.org/your_zoo_visit/whats_new/animals/)
Jackson, who now resides at the Pittsburgh Zoo’s 724-acre International Conservation Center in Somerset
County, is currently one of two active breeding African bull elephants in the United States. Jackson is the father
of Angeline and Zuri, born here at the Zoo last year, as well as Victoria and Callee, born in 1999 and 2000. He
also sired calves at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and the Louisville Zoo.
