Evaluation Conclave 2013 PRESS RELEASE 12th February, Kathmandu: The Community of Evaluators (CoE) in collaboration with Community of Evaluators Nepal (CoE-Nepal), announces its Second Evaluation Conclave from 26th February to 1st March 2013 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The objective of the conclave is to bring together thinkers, commissioners and practitioners of evaluation in an interactive forum to discuss, deliberate and share advancements in the theory and practice of evaluation. Tricia Wind, IDRC says “The CoE’s first Conclave in New Delhi in October in 2010 brought together over 300 participants from South Asian and beyond. Evaluation Conclave 2013 promises to bring together a wide array of global and South Asian thinkers, government representatives, evaluators, policy makers, donors, academicians, and students for this four-day event.” Gana Pati Ojha, Founder CoE South Asia & CoE Nepal, adds; “The cross-cutting themes of the Conclave will be Participation, Practices, Policies and Utilization in the field of evaluation. The following sub-themes have been identified for the conclave: Poverty Alleviation; Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition; Gender and Inequities; Environment; and Governance and Social Accountability.” The Theme of the second Conclave - Evaluation for Development - emphasizes that evaluation should ultimately make a difference in the lives of people. Evaluation is particularly critical in the context of South Asia, home to complex social structures, high rates of poverty, gender discrimination, dynamic forces of globalization sweeping traditional societies and the presence of myriad development projects for the large populations of this region.
