Kidder Memorial Home Obituary: Beatrice Madeline Gagne Dateline: Highgate Center, Vermont Mrs. Beatrice Madeline Gagne, age 97 years, died early Tuesday morning July16, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at her side. Born at home in Highgate Center on May 29, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Edouard and Ozanna (Gagne) Laroche. She attended a one room school house in Highgate and on September 12, 1932, was married to Pierre Charles Gagne who predeceased her on May 22, 1976. In earlier years she had worked as a seamstress for Pedigree USA. A native of Highgate Center, Bea lived for 35 years in the Springfield, Mass area returning to Highgate and Swanton in 1971. She was a lifelong, faithful and devoted parishioner of Saint Louis Roman Catholic Church serving as a religious education teacher and member of the Ladies of Saint Anne for many years. She and her sister Alberta also provided music for countless Masses that were celebrated over the years at Saint Louis. Bea had a fervent devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as well as a great love for her children, grandchildren and all of her family. Bea leaves two sons, Jean Louis Gerard Gagne and his wife Pauline of Chicopee, MA and Cyrille Leonide Gagne and his wife Karen of Highgate Center; three daughters, Lina Alberta Roberge and husband George of Montague, MA, Rolande Cecile Renaud of Chicopee, MA and Dianne Rita Laroche and husband Gerald of Highgate Center; 26 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Beatrice was predeceased by a daughter, Lillian Annette Stenta on July 7, 2002; a grandson, Carter Leonide Gagne on March 10, 2011, a granddaughter, Grace Ellen Teague on September 3, 2002; seven brothers, Albert, Henri, Omer, Narcisse, Wilfred, Leonide and Gedeon Laroche and three sisters, Valida Pinsonnault, Blanche Kirouac and Alberta Gagne; two sons-in-law, Mark Stenta Sr. and Anthony Renaud, a daughter-in-law, Rita Gagne and 12 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Bea's family would like to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation to all of her extended family and special caregivers at the St. Albans Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for all that they have done for Bea during her nearly three year stay with them. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday July 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, 186 Lamkin St., Highgate Center. Father Emmanuel I. Ajanma will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Gagne family lot in St. Louis Cemetery.
