PRESS RELEASE 31 JULY 2015 Rainbow BRT Trials in Sangamwadi – Vishrantwadi Corridor from 1 August 31 July, Pune Pune Municipal Corporation and PMPML are inviting inputs from different segments of society in the run up to launch of Rainbow BRT services. Trial runs of BRT bus operations will take place on the Sangamwadi-Vishrantwadi corridor from 1st August. The trial will be done with ten buses initially and go up to sixty buses, operating over a thousand trips per day. Rainbow BRT aims to provide a high quality public transport service to people. It is a joint initiative of PMC, PCMC and PMPML with the active support of Pune Traffic Police. The Rainbow BRT will provide several features to make bus travel comfortable, such as level boarding, passenger information, and increased frequency of buses. Mrs Mayura Shindekar, CEO of BRT Cell, PMPML says that the hardware of the BRT ITMS system has already been tested. This includes the GPS system, bus arrival display, voice announcements in the bus, and the functioning of automatic doors. The BRT staff has also undergone training, including the drivers, conductors, traffic wardens, bus station staff and security personnel. The purpose of the trial runs is to ensure that all components are functioning well, and feedback is obtained from different segments of society to rectify any issues that are faced. A protocol has been created by PMPML for the trial runs, the collection and analysis of the feedback, and using it for improving the system. Feedback forms have been prepared for collecting inputs during the trials. Municipal Commissioner Shri Kunal Kumar says that the support of the users of Rainbow BRT is the most important aspect. While the initial trials will be done internally with the staff of these organizations, later on the trials will be open to the public. The purpose of the trial phase is to get inputs from different segments of society. We are putting in efforts from our side, but it is the feedback from the public which will help us to create a high quality, customer-oriented service, said Shri Kunal Kumar.
