The staff and employees from the participating school districts are given a tuition discount when they enter any university’s programs. The Arts and Science Department has freshman link classes which connect students with the community. Donna Redman and Lynn Stanton-Riggs want to be involved in the concept. Teacher Leadership Certificate The current movement and review of literature on Teacher Leadership emphasizes leadership training and collaboration. The NCATE blue Ribbon Report has a set of model standards for teacher leaders which is close to the credential standards. The Administrative Credential includes seven (7) classes with fieldwork experiences. “What four classes could we use in our Teacher Leadership Certificate?” After receiving the Teacher Leadership Certificate the teacher could take other courses to receive a master’s degree or Administration Credential. Next step: Mark will talk to Emmett Terrell and ask him, “What do they have in mind for their teachers?” Using the standards Patt Ensey could develop a Leadership program not heavy on theory put best practices and training in: leadership; coaching. Mentoring, staff development and oral presentations. The format would be in the form of workshops and could have some classes at a school site. A recommendation is to investigate grants which would provide some money to aid the students in their tuition.
