To New York State Department of
Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC):
Deny the air and water permits for the Spectra Algonquin
(AIM) pipeline and infrastructure expansion!
 Deny Spectra Energy’s Title V application to expand the compressor
stations in Southeast and Stony Point, NY
(Title V Draft Air Permits ID: 3-3730-00060/00013 and 3-3928-00001/00027)
 Gov. Cuomo, NYSDEC and NYS Department of Health recently banned fracking in NY due to
health risks, so the same health review should be required for exposure to toxins from
compressor stations, metering & regulating stations, pigging stations, valves and other
associated gas infrastructure.
 The two huge compressor stations are already emitting large quantities of methane, carbon
dioxide, formaldehyde and Volatile Organic Compounds, including benzene, toluene and
many others.
 Severe health effects associated with compressor stations emissions: nosebleeds,
headaches, dizziness, skin rashes, respiratory, developmental, neurological and
cardiovascular problems, leukemia, breast, kidney and liver cancer.
 Deny Spectra Energy’s applications for water permits
(ID: 3-9903-00099/00002 - Freshwater Wetlands; ID: 3-9903-00099/00003 - Part
401 Water Quality Certification; ID: 3-9903-00099/00004 - Stream Disturbance)
 NYSDEC has not provided to the public drafts of key Clean Water Act permits, including the
Section 401 Water Quality Certification (WQC).
 Spectra has not provided to the public or to NYC Department of Environmental Protection a
complete stormwater pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) for review as required by the
Clean Water Act.
 Spectra has provided inadequate and incomplete surveys of wetlands, flora, fauna,
endangered and threatened species in the NYC Croton Watershed, Westchester County’s
Blue Mountain Reservation and Reynolds Hills, Peekskill.
