New PoE+ Ethernet Switch with Optimized Power
and Bandwidth
Munich, November 13, 2014 – Moxa, a leading manufacturer of industrial networking and computing
solutions, released the new EDS-G512E-8PoE, a communication solution for high-bandwidth Ethernet
powered devices (PDs) in industrial applications.
EDS-G512E-8PoE completes Moxa´s line of high-performance, reliable industrial Ethernet switches, the
EDS E series. It features a high power output (up to 36 watts) designed for industrial, heavy-duty PoE
devices, Gigabit Ethernet capabilities for large bandwidth network transmissions, easy management tools
(SmartPoE) for monitoring PDs, and an industrial-grade reliability built to withstand harsh environments.

PTZ/outdoor HD cameras and wireless access points with IEEE 802.11n and IEEE 802.11ac capabilities, a
switch with IEEE 802.3at abilities that features Gigabit Ethernet is essential for a smooth network
communication.” explained Chih-Hong Lin, Business Development Manager Industrial Ethernet at Moxa
Europe. “The new EDS-G512E-8PoE series features 8 Gigabit PoE+ ports allowing for large bandwidth
transmissions and up to 30 watts of power in standard mode. For heavy-duty powered devices requiring a
higher voltage, the EDS-G512E-8PoE series allows for up to 36 watts of power output. The switches ensure
a sufficient power supply for mission-critical, power-sensitive applications, making it an industry-leading
Gigabit PoE+ solution.”
The EDS-G512E-8PoE is designed with a series of smart management tools that simplify the process of
remotely controlling and monitoring the powered devices. The tools include a power management function to
optimize the system accordingly, thus lightening its burden, and a diagnostic function to detect PD conditions
with failure detection and LED indicators. Other features, such as 3 kV LAN surge protection, -40 to 75°C
wide temperature tolerance, Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain technology, and Moxa’s industrial network
management software are also included to guarantee network reliability and uptime.
