Job Summary:
By Light Professional IT Services has an immediate opening for a full time Lead Cryptographic
Test Engineer to support By Light’s newly awarded GSM-ETI Task Order 13: Information
Assurance (IA) Network Engineering Capabilities. A Lead Cryptographic Test Engineer assesses,
tests, and recommends network encryption solutions and technologies to support of DISA’s
network security systems and data infrastructure. The Security Specialist evaluates high-speed
SONET, Ethernet and HAIPI encryptors and their respective management software for insertion
into the DISN.
Security Clearance: Minimum TOP SECRET Clearance required
Responsibilities:
• Oversee Information Systems Security Specialist Associates
• Perform network integration testing with HAIPI, SONET and LEF encryptors to determine
suitability and impact for deployment in the DISN
• Evaluate product updates for encryptors currently used in DISN to determine how they
impact existing network services and equipment
• Deliver Test Plans, detailing proposed test cases, and resulting Test Report following
successful completion of testing. Other documents, like an Encryptor Fielding Plan or
Encryptor Configuration Guide may be required
• Perform integration testing of software used to manage network encryption devices to
determine suitability of the software product to manage target encryptors used on the
DISN. Examples include General Dynamics Encryption Management (GEM) and SafeNet
Management Center (SMC)
• Evaluate how well the encryptor element management software itself integrates into the
DISN network management environment
• Provide Tier III engineering support to field operations personnel and deliver Encryptor
Lessons Learned reports
• Conduct testing in customer lab and contribute to the support and maintenance of the lab
Qualifications/Experience:
 Detailed-oriented, self-motivated experienced individual with 5+ years of experience as a
Security Engineer for DoD/DHS clients
 DISN or GIG BE Network experience
 Expertise with network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls,
intrusion detection systems, etc
 Knowledge of cryptographic technology, algorithms and secure protocols to include: Suite
A and Suite B encryption algorithms defined by NSA; Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and the
NSA Key Management Infrastructure (KMI); IPsec and MACsec secure communications
protocols
 Demonstrated experience with Type 1 inline network encryptors used to protect data
traffic on classified networks
 Experience with devices that implement the High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor
(HAIPE) Interoperability Specification (IS) and/or experience working with Link Encryptor
Family (LEF) products
 Knowledge and experience using the following IP protocols: Border Gateway Protocol
(BGP), Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS) and Multi-Protocol Label
Switching (MPLS)
 Experience with Ixia, Spirent and JDSU test equipment
 Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with
management and staff at all levels
 Candidate should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education/Certifications:
 BS in Networking, Telecommunications, or related area, or equivalent combination of
education, certifications and experience
 DoD 8570-01-M IAT Level II or higher to include Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, or CISSP
 CCNA or JNCIA or equivalent routing and switching experience is required
